I read Off the Racks almost every week but I don’t contribute much. And my comics shop frequently gets stuff late because of the distributor. I don’t mind at all if stuff gets reviewed late because that’s what I’d be doing if I had time to write reviews.
This week, I got:
Spider-Woman #17 - This is not a character I’ve ever followed regularly but I just started picking it up and I really like it.
Robins #1 - I have low expectations. I like it that they’re including Stephanie. I guess it’s OK. We’ll see how it goes.
Robin and Batman #1 - I passed on this last week because Year One comics tend to suck. But this week I noticed that Dustin Nguyen is the artist. So I picked it up. Nice art. The “Robin just isn’t ready and so Batman grounds him/ her” trope is getting pretty tired. Hopefully LeMire will do SOMETHING with it in later issues.

I thought I posted this when I read it yesterday...
Not All Robots #4 : The waste oil has hit the fan, as it seems like we could have a crazy 3 way civil war.. or the focus family could just save the day... apparently this is going to wrap up next issue? I'm concerned, seems nearly impossible to happy, but Russell is pretty amazing, so maybe. I'm just sad, since there is so much more to mine with this idea.
Gun Honey #3 : I'm slightly disappointed in how the plot turned (too predictable).. but the art is really fantastic... it's not BAD, just predictible, and it's not like there are a huge amount of places a story about a weapon dealer that gets caught can go.

I still need to pick up Robots, maybe when it gets collected I'll get around to checking it out.

Couple Marvel Things others didn't mention
Amazing Spider-Man 78.Bey : Got this for the Peach Momoko cover of the Daughters of the Dragon... figured I hadn't read any Spidey for a while and it'd be fun to check it. Apprarently these '.bey' are for 'Beyond Corporation' and are kinda side stories? Pretty good one off with Misty and Colleen.. the Spider-Man part was only the 1st couple pages, and involved them training Ben Reilly in a Danger Room like thing. Not a terrible comic (though the interior art didn't really do much for me), but didn't succeed in telling me what's going on in Spider-land. The next issue promises Monica Rambeau, so perhaps I'll grab that too.
Strange Academy: Death of Doctor Strange and #13 : So the 'Death of Doctor Strange' special was pretty good.. it featured the everyone going home. so all the kids got moments with their parents (except Doyle, naturally)... the main action was Enchantress battling a weird world sorceror that was freed from being turned to stone by Strange's death. Pretty fun book... but the regular issue didn't even mention anything, it was just a regular issue. It was a 'day off' sort of issue where the kids all go out on a Friday Night, and we get some various character bits. Just makes me feel like the event is even more pointless than ever (since a new Doctor Strange #1 is solicited for February).
Winter Guard #3 : I kinda like the idea of Marvel's vampires being a country in their own right near Chernobyl... seems fun. I guess the current MU Dracula is the original's grandson (I'm sure this is not new to this comic). The story has been decent, but I expect the pay off for whatever info in contained will be underwhelming.

Moon Knight #5. Written by Jed MacKay. Art by Alessandro Cappuccio. Moon Knights hidden enemy is revealed and Moon Knight reveals a lot of his real self to his therapist. MacKay spends as much time exploring Moon Knight's mind as the action scenes. And it makes for great reading. It changes MK from a Batman or Daredevil clone to his own unique persona. I feel like past creators have tried to do this but this series really elevates different concepts and captures what makes MK unique. Totally agree.. this has been my favorite Moon Knight since Moench. I kinda hope they keep Tigra around too (she was mentioned but not on screen)... seems like a good use for her.
