Wow that brings back memories. I ordered a lot from East Coast Comics when I started in the 90's. It was easier to get a money order and mail my order to them, than it was to get my folks to take me to a LCS, which most were miles away and even biking there took hours. I never had any issues with them, and my comics always came in good order. I have no idea if they're around anymore. I mostly buy from mycomicshop and occasionally from Newkadia. Though I am not fond of the latter's shipping options.

I bought from East Coast Comics a time or two back in college from their ads in current comics.. mile high too.. when they had the ads with the big lists of $1 comics.
I don't think East Coast is around... last time I looked, the web site was for what looked like a small store, and they had a totally different logo.

This is what I was thinking of:

Back say maybe a decade ago, I did a few orders of trades from Mile High's site. I got quite a few of Marvel Essentials pretty cheap on one of their deals. Outside that their prices were always too wacky for me.
I kinda get that there is a bit of rivalry between him and the dude Buddy that owns MyComicShop by their newsletters.

This is what I was thinking of:
That's the ad I remembered, and new comics were listed at 60% of cover price. And almost every package would include a yellow 'credit card' memo written in red ink for any book that sold out.

I compared prices of some books I just bought off ebay....even if Chuck had an 80% off sale, I'm better off on ebay.

This is what I was thinking of: The add is obviously familiar to me, but I couldn't say if I actually ordered from them. I placed a bunch in the 90's, but I don't think I repeated business with but maybe one or two shops. And I can't remember which one(s) could've been. I compared prices of some books I just bought off ebay....even if Chuck had an 80% off sale, I'm better off on ebay. Sounds about right, if 65% just made them competitive about a year ago, 80% probably would fall short now.

Seems like they need cash again, after a short period of no 50% sale (the floor was 40%), they're back at 60%. The newsletter would be funny if it weren't such a blatant lie:
Strictly speaking, it's true that no 60% discount has happened in the last 18 moths, but less than 17 months ago, I placed an order at a 65% one. I'm sure this isn't the meaning people will get when reading that.

He probably needs to buy Bettie Pages a new dress.

His prices just keep going up though...I'm guessing he's selling to people that don't know any better, and that's enough? My last order from Mile High was about 3 years ago, and it was a 60% off sale.. I found a few mid-80s things from my list that were a good deal (stuff slightly above $1 bin level for $1 ish an issue after the discount). The last couple times it seems Chuck things $1 bins should be $20 bins.

Seems the sale ends tonight. It wasn't a very short one, not for a shop that constantly reminds you trough their newsletters that they're swamped with orders and have constant record sales at their Jason Street location (actually, Chuck doesn't exactly say that, but rather implies it).

I wonder what the prices are like in the store, and if he has $1 bins? The one time I had a chance to go when I had a business trip to Denver a big snow storm hit and I wasn't able to.
