Ok so one of the weird subsets of comics I have started collecting over the last few years are covers which feature a woman wearing a red dress. It was inspired by one of my favorite Will Eisner Spirit covers... which is one of my collecting grail's. it is also inspired by some of Canniff's looks for the Dragon Lady... amd some early looks for Dale Arden in Flash Gordon... I don't have many (many I know of are from the 40s and 50s and can get a bit pricey, so I don't indulge often. One of the recent acquisitions (last year) was Matt Baker's Lorna Doone cover... I am always looking for more covers to put on my radar to look for at shows and such (when they resume). Genre doesn't matter, but red dress is pretty specific for me, no red super-hero costumes (sorry Elektra, Wanda and Jessica Drew), no red skirts or pant suits, etc. just red dresses. Since this is a very knowledgeable community whose range exceeds mine, I invite folks to post their favorite covers featuring a woman in a red dress that might add books to my radar I was unaware of. -M

Well, several Matt Bakers. Here are two: My personal favorite is a red skirt only: MAD had a couple:
And Victor Fox never disappoints

I love that Diary Secrets cover (even if it's only a skirt, it's on my radar for the Baker art. Exploring Matt Baker's art last year when I had more time at home, really added a lot of books to the radar. Unfortunately, being Matt Baker covers, most are out of my price range, but there's always hope...

Any of the Blonde Phantom covers, but this one's a double-dresser: and Venus, of course: and Lois Lane has plenty to offer, but I get a kick out of this one:

do you have this one? Nope. I don't have much of anything Archie outside the Red Circle stuff, a few odd digests, FCBD editions, a couple of random Sabrina and Josie issues and the Afterlife with Archie stuff. But it's now on my radar... -M

MWGallaher The Blonde Phantom stuff was one of the first I found when searching, and is on my radar, but prices make it more of a pipe dream. I love that Venus cover though, definitely added on my look for list. And that Lois Lane cover is hysterical. -M

Charles Biro had a thing for drawing women in red dresses in distress on his covers. I can post some later, but early Boy, Daredevil, and Crime Does Not Pay have a bunch of them.

Terminal City #2 I have this one. I am still going through the books I already own but did not buy for this reason and tagging the ones that have a red dress on the cover in my catalog. It's a time-consuming process. The others are now officially on my radar. Thanks. -M

These two came immediately to mind: I have most of Sin City in trade collections, but I might have to try to find that single issue. Unfortunately I sold off all the Moon Knights I had a few years back when I downsized (typical for me, selling before the TV announcement raised the prices) because my total had bloated up over 10K again (which is has done again since that downsizing). I will have to keep an eye out for that one though. -M

This one is relatively available and not too terrible price wise (assuming $100-150 is not too terrible for a VG ish book). I have always liked her hiding in the shadows Plus can you go wrong with Maneely and Heath? I think not!
