Jay Scott Pike Public domain characters Viz and the other British comics Mad magazine and it's imitators like Cracked and Crazy and National Lampoon Bill Mantlo and Micronauts X-men from Cockrum to Byrne Daredevil before Miller took over and Mike Murdock. The clone saga The times that Marvel and DC crossed over including Amalgam AI and the way it's taking over entertainment And much more. The swag that was displayed: Crimebuster went to terrificon and picked up some nice books and signatures    Rob Allen and his Black Panther shirt  |

Confessor and driver1980 , Buster Gonad was pretty good, but The Brown Bottle was always a favorite, especially after I found out that apparently the character was based on the drunken antics of Chris Donald's musician-friend Davey Graham.... Is this THE Davey Graham?
Viz was the DB's back in the 1990's-2000's.... wish I had more issues on hand. I see them super cheap on Ebay, but 95% of them are shipped from the UK, so the shipping is murder, even when buying multiple issues from the same vendor.
Back in the late '90s, My Celtic/Americana band, The Secret Commonwealth, were booked on a bill in Nashville with the Scottish band, Old Blind Dogs. It was their first visit to Nashville, this was around 1996-97. The gig went great and we got on famously. After the gig, we took them down to lower Broadway (which was still a happening place back then, but nothing like the tourist trap it has become). We all got smashed at Tootsies, and their drummer, Davy Cattanach (not to be confused with the deceased Scottish footballer of the same name) and their Fiddle player Jonny Hardie and I began to talk VIZ comics. I believe they were describing a Nobby's Piles strip and I started spouting one-liners from the strip. They were kind of shocked but pleased that a Yank even knew anything at all about VIZ.
