Wow, no Green Lantern? Surprised to see Red Hood and Batman Beyond over Batgirl.
SHOCKED Strange Academy is on there for Marvel, but only 1 Spider-Man book? crazy!
No more Conan, I see...so now we have to wait until Marvel gives up the license, I guess.
On the plus side... you could now buy everything in the DCU pretty easily.

This is what the big 2 landscape will look like circa November after the cancellations have taken effect... -M Are they counting Batman Beyond as a Kis's title...because although based on a cartoon it's tonally no different than mainstream bat-books. The WB Kid's books are Looney Tunes and Scooby.

I gave up on Marvel long ago and love my back issues thank you very much.
Was enjoying Shazam despite the ridiculous scheduling issues that killed it, and absolutely loving the best Hawkman ever now going away and very much like the only survivor of the bunch Legion.
I hope the indies pick up some love. I'm way behind but still love my Valiants.

Don't know how accurate that list is BTW, I'm missing Ms. Marvel and Deadpool for instance on it (haven't seen cancellations for them announced). DOn't think solicits for November 2020 came out yet? (At least I can't find them). In October Ms.Marvel, Deadpool and Conan at least were on the solicits with no mention of final issues (then again they hardly ever mention when a series is ending).

you're right (for Marvel at least).. no chance Deadpool is getting cancelled. Needs more research apparently So, I looked at the actually DC solicits for Oct. and Nov. The list says it's only ongoing, which is true, however.. Grant Morrisson's GL is continuing, it's just technically a 12 issue mini series 'season 2'. I suspect a 'season 3' will happen, or something else if Morrison is done. Far Sector also seems to be continuing... I'm sure that has a scheduled end, but it's not November Batman, Detective, Wonder Woman, Justice League and Flash all seem to be intentionally twice a month. They left off Batman: The adventure Continues, perhaps that's also a mini series techincally... there's also a 'classic' version that is reprints. There are still a variety of dark Metal things happening, and DCeased is still running. Hawkman, Batgirl, Amethyst, Teen Titans, Young Justice, Justice League Odyessy, and Suicide Squad all indicate being cancelled. There are still a ton of Black Label titles, including a couple new things starting in October There are 2 Vertigo books listed... The Dreaming: waking Hours, and a new Sweet Tooth mini At least for now, not nearly as extreme as it first seemed.

The Dreaming: waking Hours, and a new Sweet Tooth mini At least for now, not nearly as extreme as it first seemed. Most of the stuff you listed are one-shots, minis (Far Sector is a 12 issue maxi on a bi-monthly schedule for instance, and the new Dreaming replacement title is a set number of issues as well) and stuff already done, in the can, and paid for by DC, or already under contract (stuff like the Hill House books). Many are with creators who have brand recognition who could take the project elsewhere if cancelled, and since they have already paid out for the material they might as well bring it to market. They've already paid a lot of money out in kill feed for all the Generations and 5G stuff that was completed and in process before the dismissal of Didio and that was before the COVID shutdown, so they need to recoup some of the production costs on this material. So these minis and contracted projects will be published during the transition period, but I highly doubt more projects of this ilk will be commissioned moving forward. I am not going to evaluate DC's output based on November, December or even January solicitations. Let's see what their publishing slate looks like in the second quarter of 2021, and that will give us a better sense of what DC looks like moving forward. And a note, full solicitations hadn't been released when this infographic was made, but Marvel in particular releases a sliding cascade of solicitations over the month that people Frankenstein together to get a look at thie releases for the month. They tend to leave the stuff that is on the bubble or not doing well and going to generate interest/hype until the final release of full solicitations, and these have been the books lately that have beengetting announced as switching to digital only or getting cancelled, so the list was put together based on what solicitations had been released at that point by Marvel as sure things moving forward with the anything not solicited yet as being those bubble titles in jeopardy. As popular as Deadpool is, sales on the monthly have been sluggish in recent years. so it could be up for some kind of cancellation/refresh. The character is a merchandising juggernaut, but not a great seller as a monthly book. -M

Tom Tayloer has said that Suicide Squad was planned to end with issue 11 and that it was not a cancellation (probably planned to reboot it as Revolutionaries as those characters have basically taken over the title in his run). It is unclear whether those plans will continue (sales haven't been great as far as I can tell).

This looks like to me that DC is throwing out any notion of diversity (current or future) in lieu of economics. Wonder Woman and Catwoman are the only two female-centric titles on that list. Do the CW TV shows (media tie-ins) not figure much into these determinations? Yes, the pandemic may have slowed/stalled production at the moment but I haven't seen anything about cancelling Batwoman nor Supergirl. And from all appearances, Stargirl seems like a hit.
Is that a reason why Flash made the cut? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Barry did but how much did the TV show factor into that decision (if at all)? Still, the show is on what, season 6 or 7 by now?
That's a shame about Hawkman, that's been a really great book.
On side-note, are they still continuing their YA novels? I've seen plenty of ads for them in the monthly floppies and most, if not, all of them look to be very good or at least have interesting themes. Have they been selling well?
Am I seeing that right? LSH survived a publishing cut?! Holy Bat-Mite, it is the End Times!

I think LSH will last as long as Bendis doesn't get bored with it.

Is mrp the first person to turn Frankenstein into a verb? Nah, that's been around for a long time. It's also a common term for when people take parts of several low grade copies of a book and piece them back together to try to pass off as a higher grade copy of a book. There's a couple of really key books (one of them a 'Tec #27) that are suspected to be Frankensteined copies. We'll use a nice cover from this book with brown brittle pages, take a few wraps from this copy, a few from that one, the staples from this one add them to this mostly nice copy with a terrible cover and rusted staples and voila a brand new spanking high grade comic to sell...ugh! -M

DC has hired their new general manager: Daniel Cherry I wish him well. I hope he succeeds in shepherding DC to a new phase of viability in the current market. -M

Meanwhile, DC has excluded comic shops form their Batman Day promotions offering special products to other retailers and online buyers, but nothing to comic shops and have shut down their retailer only forums on facebook, so it looks more and more that the direct market will be more of an afterthought moving forward rather than the focus on their publishing business plan.

My distaste for DC is growing more and more since Levitz left. I never thought it would be this way but I figured Marvel would pull things back together as well. They did briefly under Marvel Knights and it lasted a good 3 or 4 years and pretty much I left after that mostly. It feels like the same thing has been coming to DC as well though I'm optimistic about Milestone coming back, hopefully Shazam comes back, and at the very least I've got the Legion. The Super books look pretty good but I'm way behind going back to Rebirth.
