The first episode of Origin Stories is here! Origin Stories is a new podcast/YouTube series where I invite comic fans to give their own comic reading and collecting origin story by discussing the 10 individual comics that had the biggest impact on their comic experience. In this first episode, I'm joined by Shaxper to learn his Origin Story! I'm still working on finishing up season 1 of Origin Stories - when it's done, I'll be posting the videos in YouTube and I'll make an announcement about it. Thanks!

It was kind of sad that Shaxper lost his taste for buying up older treasures after Batman # 9

It was kind of sad that Shaxper lost his taste for buying up older treasures after Batman # 9 Nah, my hunger was satisfied. Be happy for me. I'm, with you Shax in it's all about the joy of the read. There is fun to be found in a good hunt for filling series or runs I want to read, but an afternoon buried with reading a beloved run is pure heaven for me. Growing up with a lousy distribution system here in Phoenix I locked into having Marvel and DC for my purchases as I felt I was getting the best buys for my money. As an adult now, the CCF has reminded me of the joy and pleasure in other comics to be read outside the usual superhero worlds. Talking Kirby, Barks and Pratt all in one discussion shows how much there is to find and explore in the world comic books. Way to go oh wise and wondrous teacher!

Alf ?? Well it's the ten books that shaped us, not our ten favorites I’m a big faker, I loved the ALF show. But I never buy comics associated with movies or TV shows. Never.

Well it's the ten books that shaped us, not our ten favorites I’m a big faker, I loved the ALF show. But I never buy comics associated with movies or TV shows. Never. I felt the same way once I got serious about Super Heroes. Nowadays, though, I find some of the adaptions fascinating, as they are inevitably different from the source material, sometimes for the better, and often for the stranger.

I don’t think that comics can compete with the effects of movies or tv.
