Anyone check them out yet? They seem to be web comics in the standard print comic format, with some good creators, but no to the covers or blurbs really grabbed me.

Stories of Verne Gagne, the Bruiser & the Crusher? Mad Dog Vachon? The High Flyers? No? Not even Nick Bockwinkel and Bobby Heenan? sigh................................................... It sucks getting old!

AWA - Artists, Writers, Artisans is the stupidest name for a line I think I've ever heard.

It's Bill Jemas new comic company isn't it? I think he recruited Axel Alonso to spearhead it after Marvel let Alonso go.

Heh... I'm guessing no then. I have no idea about the history, I came about it mentioned when I was looking up stuff about the Diamond thing. Guess I'll just have to check it out and report back

All 3 of their initial offerings looked good, but I was waiting for them to be collected before I pulled the trigger on them.
Somewhere in the back of my mind, I worry that I'll get burned if they never finish coming out which is an unfortunate cycle.

MRP (not surprisingly) is correct, it's Bill Jemas' company, and Axel Alonso seems to be editor. The one I checked out is The Resistance, which, besides being written by J. Michael Straczynski with art by Mike Dedato, is staying it's going to be the flagship title of their shared universe. (more on that in a minute).
There are 11 'episodes' so far... they seem to cover 2 print comics.. the format is web comic-ish... one panel at a time. They also recap some, which I suspect they don't do in print.
The story is a super pandemic kills 95% of the population... 1/2 that remain have superpowers of some sort. Took them 11 episodes to get to that point, so typical JMS pacing. Once that got a bit into the plot, it started to feel like Supreme Power a bit.
Not sure this is the sort of setting that would work as a shared universe, but there it is. No new episodes since 5/6, so they much be on hiatus with the pandemic, or decided to no longer post them for free (there's an issue 3 listed in the solicits).
Nothing great, but decent. The art is not as good as I would have expected.. seemed really static for the most part, but maybe that's just because it was all set up.

George RR Martin and colleagues might want to have a word with them..... A description of the series, from wikipedia. Basically, an alien virus infects the globe when the race tries to test it and it kills most people who contract it outright, turns the next largest segment of the infected into disfigured mutants or abilities that are dangerous or destabilizing and a very select few gain beneficial powers and abilities.

I'm familiar with Wild Cards... and while I can see the basic premise being similar, it didn't feel that similar when I was reading it. Granted, I read Wild Card probably 25 years ago, so maybe I would find it so now.
