That's a good point (yes, Pluto is a planet, it's my favourite. End of discussion). As a metal fan, I have similar debates at times. Some think Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple are metal bands. I wouldn't consider them metal bands. But there would be no metal without rock - and no rock without blues. So the lines can be blurred. Megadeth are metal. Are AC/DC metal? That seems to be open to debate. I did buy a KISS album that was in the metal section of a store. The overlap is a tough one. Even one Beatles song is very loud ("Helter Skelter"), but could one go as far as saying it is metal? I doubt it. The term didn't even exist then in that context, but terms can be retrospective. But metal bands may have been inspired by "Helter Skelter". So it's a fascinating discussion, and I certainly don't have all the answers. There are aspects of Tarzan that are superheroic, but a poll asking whether he's a superhero or not might not be clear-cut... I'm a lumper, not a splitter. The first metal song is "Rumble" by Link Wray. Then comes "You Really Got Me" by The Kinks. "Helter Skelter" is metal but came years later. |

He did briefly, pre-Superman, wear tights and a cape, if that helps.

It doesn't really matter if Dr. Occult was first (he was) or not. Superman being #324 or whatever he is in the new timelines has been insulting for decades.
