Getting signed items is of course a regular part of fandom and some "gets" are more prized than others. I'll never forget my first convention experience in 1981, when I got Marshall Rogers' signature on an issue of Detective Comics. And while I've never been much of an "autograph hound" in general, I have managed over the intervening decades to pick up a few more here and there of note (including the "John Hancocks" of Dick Sprang, Joe Simon, Ramona Fradon, and Jerry Robinson). But my most unusual autograph is the one below (no, not obtained in person, though that would have been interesting). So, I'm curious as to what autograph "gets" the rest of you particularly prize.

I have signatures of Lynda Carter, Adam West, Burt Ward, Yvonne Craig, Van Williams, and the four villains of Batman 66 ... Cesar (The Joker) Romero, Frank (The Riddler) Gorshin, Burgess (The Penguin) Meredith, Lee (The Catwoman) Meriwether and Jule (The Catwoman) Newmar. My favorites are Raquel Welch and Diana Rigg. Lucky to find pictures in the internet!

I've got West, Ward, Craig, and Newmar (I saw them all on a panel together in Anaheim in 2009) but you've got the complete A-list of the show's rogues gallery. Very cool!

I'm not really an autograph hound, but I do like to get my books (including comics) signed by authors whom I've met or know personally. One that doesn't fit into that category, rather it's more of a 'weird find' like your Wertham book, is this copy of Philip Jose Farmer's A Feast Unknown with his signature: I haven't had the signature authenticated, although I've looked for images of Farmer's autograph online and it seems to match; another weird thing about that book is that I found it in a comic book shop here in Zagreb in a box of discounted books for the equivalent of about $8. I also checked online and found that this particular edition of the book, with illustrations by Richard Corben, is pretty rare and sought-after and usually commands much higher prices.

I have a signed book by Vittorio Giardino and a signed print by Guido Crepax.
I also value signatures from Iain Banks and Doris Lessing (I have others but those are my prize).

For me, it’s Hugo Pratt’s signature with the little sketch of his Danakil character, Cush, that I got when he came to Quebec city in the late 80s. Cush is my favourite Corto Maltese character, Pratt is one of my favourite cartoonists, and that particular signature was in a book I wanted to give my mom for Christmas because she was a huge Hugo Pratt fan. My mom was cool as can be.
So the combo favourite character - favourite artist - emotional connection makes that autograph the star of my limited collection!

This is something I've never gotten into, but I have had/still have some autographed items... the ones I got myself came from situations where it seemed rude not to ask for one, or someone just gave me/sent me/drew me something they signed. Well, it's non-comics, but I do kind of treasure my Ritchie Yorke (Australian) signed book on Canadian rock music circa the late '60s... I suppose I most wish I'd kept a Charlton Green Planet comic I got autographed by Dick Giordano. For other people I have gotten/given some cool things... best being a Ventures LP my BF now has signed by the classic four members from a dollar or two bin in Chico California!

A Spider-Man newspaper page with a panel showing Spidey swinging across the city that is signed by the writer and artist: Stan Lee and Larry Leiber.
A Don Rosa art print which shows all of the ages of the life and times of my fave Unca Scrooge!
Mike Grell signed art prints: one of the Warlord and the ladies in his life. Other print is of Tarzan.

Anything I have signed is incidental. It's either because it came signed or it was an unexpected happenstance (I bought a trade of A Distant Soil that turned out to be signed). So it's probably this sketch of Jonah Hex by Timothy Truman. Truman being one of my favorite creators and Hex being one of my favorite characters.

So what I would actually consider my most prized autographed possession is this sketch of Monark Starstalker drawn for me by Howard Chaykin when he was in Zagreb (almost 10 years ago, geez time flies): Obviously, it's since been framed.

I have lots of books and comics autographed by such folks as Roy Thomas, Mike Grell, Gene Colan, Denny O'Neil, Chris Claremont, Neal Adams, Los Bros Hernandez, Dave Stevens, Gerry Conway, George Perez, Steve Rude, Mike Baron, Sergio Aragones, Wendy and Richard Pini, Nick Cardy, Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, Marv Wolfman, Jim Shooter, Bob Layton, Martin Nodell, Mike Royer, Kurt Busiek, Brent Anderson, Bruce Timm, Matt Wagner, Michael Golden, Howard Chaykin, Scott McLoud, Joe Rubinstein, Harry Lampert, Archie Goodwin, Klaus Janson, Carmine Infantino, Joe Giella, Mark Waid, Tony Harris, Mike Allred, Ramona Fradon, Paul Gulacy, Robert C. Harvey, Alex Ross, Jim Valentino, Mike Zeck, Val Mayerick, Tony DeZuniga, Russ Heath, Larry Hama, Ron Wilson, Mark Wheately, Mark Hempel, Jose Delbo, and a bunch more I can't recall off the top of my head, but my favorite has to be the autographed headshot of Jonny Quest by Doug Wildey. With the exception of a handful of things already signed when I got them, these were all acquired face-to-face and personalized to me. Outside the realm of comic books, I have signed photos of Chuck Connors, Robert Shayne (Superman's Inspector Henderson), Pamelyn Ferdin (child actress and the original voice of Lucy in the Peanuts cartoons), kids' show host and local legend J.P. Patches, and my all-time favorite Playboy Playmate Cathy St. George (who was an absolute sweetheart). In most cases, the autograph was largely an excuse to interact with the signer.
Cei-U! And nowadays *I'm* being asked for my autograph! Weird!

Cei-U! I summon the childhood crush!

A few years ago, both Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti were at a convention here in Albuquerque. She was getting most of the attention, and even my girlfriend purchased several prints. I brought my All-Star Western #1 from the New 52 for him to sign. He was so excited and since he wasn't getting many sig requests, he drew me a sketch of Hex too.

I have a Robin Hood Sketch from Mike Grell and a Captain Marvel, from Joe Staton; but, my most prized signed work is a copy of Terry Pratchett's Thud, signed to me, by the author. It became especially prized when his alzheimer's prevented him from signing books; and, now, after his passing.
I also have a signed manuscript of Lou Thesz' memoir, personalized to me. Thesz was THE world champion pro wrestler of the Golden Age of pro wrestling. He won his first version of the title in 1938 and was the man through the 50s, when wrestling was shown on the Dumont Network. He had written the book, which was published in Japan and by a small press, then sold manuscript copies through mail order, which he would personalize. I got my copy in the late 90s, during the big wrestling boom, then.
