Black Hammer/ Justice League #3Written by Jeff Lemire Art by Michael Walsh Summary: The heroes from the Farm are interrogated by the remaining Justice League heroes while Batman and Cyborg uncover a startling clue. Plot: I'm thinking this might be my last issue of this crossover. I had hoped that Lemire would be able to say more about the nature of super hero comics by using known heroes but so far he hasn't come up with anything interesting to say. Instead of providing interesting scenarios for the two sets of heroes it's been nothing but boring so far; the only exception being Zatana's appearance at the end of the issue and the way she helped Gail turn back into an adult at last...but one scene isn't enough to save the book. Art: It's a darn shame the plot is so slow and uninteresting as I've loved Walsh's work. His classic cross hatched shadows paired with his inky back grounds were stunning in an old school way that just made his art a joy to see on each page. I especially loved his Zatana: II hope his next assignment gives him something better to do. Grade:5/10

Powers of X #4 Written by Johnathan Hickman Main Art by R.B. Silva This issue went back to more world building. I wasn't in the greatest frame of mind when reading this, and fell asleep twice. Didn't mean it was bad, it's just that with Hickman I need to really be focused. Even after reading it, I saw a recap video later. There are more questions raised here with Mr. Sinister's involvement becoming more prominent. Also, with a time jump to the distant future, the ascension of mutantkind with the Phalanx progresses forward a little more. All in all, this issue just reminded me that I'll have to go re-read all of this back in trade once it's over. Even with two connecting titles coming out weekly, I'm half lost. Silva's art continues to impress at least.

Doctor Strange #19 Written by Mark Waid Main art by Jesus Saiz This was just okay. Another one shot, but the show is almost over with one more issue left. Doctor Strange essentially is forced to save a child's life by the side of a rural road through old fashioned surgery, instead of sorcery. However, there is a ghost lurking around that makes things difficult. The one shot the previous week was a little more entertaining. This story was just very average, and there really isn't much else to say about it. Kanna is coming back for the finale though, and I'm anxious to see how Waid will wrap that up since I really liked Kanna when she was around with Strange.

Batman and the Outsiders #5 Written by Bryan Hill Main art by Dexter Soy This week was slow, and I'm glad that one of my favorite books comes out at this time like a shining gem in the desert. I read a review elsewhere that this latest issue is probably the best in the series, and I think that might be true. The last 2 or 3 issues have been the team basically taking a step back after a losing Sophia to Ra's Al Ghul. Hill looks to have taken time to build up the melodrama between the team. I am glad that everyone hasn't started bickering, but just offering perspective and support to help each other up. Makes it seem like Bruce got the right group together. There is a lot of action here, and Hill wastes no time getting things to pop off, as if he could tell that his audiences was getting hungry for actual superhero stuff to actually happen. The pacing is good here, and Dexter Soy's art serves the narrative well as usual. I might read this again this week just because I might have the time to.

Yeah, Hickman kind of turned him into the Joker or something for a second.

Invisible Woman #3 Written by Mark Waid Main art by Mattia De Iulis Actually, I lied. This book is also a strong one during the slow session. It's down to this or Batman and the Outsiders for my book of the week. Mark Waid has really gotten me invested in Sue's spy escapade. Even though I like Waid's creative choices with exploring Sue's abilities are interesting, but she is starting to seem overpowered with something like being able to change her hair color with the bending of light. Ehhh, come on. There are some typical spy tropes here, but whatever. I still like the direction it's heading it. I've also gotten used to Mattia De Iulis' art after I initially hated it. A good story can do that sometimes.

I don't know, I'm not a huge fan of the original or anything(I think my surest memory of him comes from the X-Men arcade game) but it just felt really fake and forced to me.
