Highlights of Saturday night WM39....Rhea vs Charlotte was excellent (10/10) and KO & Sami vs The Usos was also great (9/10).

10 out of 10 for Rhea/Charlotte from me, too. What a match. I also enjoyed Rey Mysterio VS Dominik much more than I expected.
I do wish WM could be a bit shorter. Us Brits have to watch it from 1am to nearly 5am, a time when our body clock wants to go to sleep. I am *not* asking for shorter matches, I am asking them to cut out a lot of the superfluous crap about jackpots, WWE Shop, etc. Yes, ads are a fact of life, but WWE could trim a good thirty minutes off the PPV runtime. Not just for us Brits, but I am sure Americans don’t want to necessarily spend 5 hours in an arena.
I mean, get on with The Usos VS Owen/Zayn match, I really don’t want to see a Turbo Tax advert when my body clock is “fighting” with me to stay awake.
I also wonder whether we need long recaps. That didn’t seem to happen when wrestling PPVs were first around. Most likely, fans know the story.

The breaks and other interludes work for me, we had a BBQ going so we could tend to our invited guests....we'll have about 25ish later tonight too.
Rumour... The Rock will make an appearance, but I can't vouch for it.

Off to watch WrestleMania.
There are moments in my life as a fan where something has seemed surreal. Hogan turning heel was surreal. Eric Bischoff hugging Vince McMahon on Raw was surreal. Ultimate Warrior being inducted into the Hall of Fame was surreal. I never thought any of those things would occur (I know Hogan had been heel, but he’d had a 15-year-run as a babyface).
I know Roman Reigns can’t have an eternal reign. No-one can. But after nearly 3 years of dominance, I just think it’ll be a surreal moment *if* Rhodes pins Reigns tonight.

It was predictable, the Blood Line was not going to get a total wipeout. Expect this to drag on until Summer Slam so Reins can clock 1000+ days as Champ.
Very disappointed in Brock vs Omos, not the result but the match itself that was merely a few minutes. Having Brock win probably means he's signed another year contract and appearances in maybe 5 or so matches.

I did enjoy Lesnar/Omos as a spectacle. I think if it’d have been longer, the likes of Meltzer would have complained. I thought it was a good way to get things going, get the crowd excited. I wonder, did they rehearse that match? Omos appeared to have better chemistry with Lesnar than he did with Lashley. Omos didn’t look as green in the match, there didn’t seem to be any awkward spots.
As for Reigns, hard to know where to go from here. Who’s left to challenge him? Anyone that may seem logical (Gunther, Theory, etc) is busy with mid-card feuds. In age of monthly PPVs and Raw/SD, what is left for him? I feel a Cody win would have opened up possibilities, not only for Cody (e.g. Cody VS McIntyre, Cody VS Theory), but some new things for Reigns outside the world title picture, such as an internal Bloodline feud, or Bloodline VS Hurt Business.
Also, it can get deflating the way Reigns wins with help. Solo Sikoa is banned from ringside during the match yet returns to interfere anyway? Jake Roberts once did a shoot interview where he said that the referee must have authority for matches to be meaningful (I may be paraphrasing). No point in the ref sending Sikoa away if he can return to interfere. The next main event could see Heyman and the Bloodline banned from ringside, but they’ll just have Heyman disguise himself as a photographer and throw fire in the challenger’s eyes or something.
Oh, and the night is still too long. Did such a busy card need a Hell in a Cell match? And as I was getting tired, we had to have Shane McMahon be a waste of airtime (hope he recovers anyway). Cut the Miz/Snoop Dog/Shane stuff out and we could have got to Reigns/Cody half an hour earlier.
On a final note, anyone know what happened with Shayna Baszler in the fatal four-way match? That match seemed to be wrapped up quickly as if not by design, and Baszler ended up barefoot and limping. Sometimes you just feel that a match has been wrapped up quickly, hope she’s okay, too.

Looks like WWE had worked that angle of Reigns retaining for several weeks, they want Cody's story to continue, probably until the next major PPV.
If they really wanted to eliminate Solo's interference from the equation, all they had to do was have him face Bobby, who was literally pleading for a match and that would have been high intensity.
Instead we get a foolish segment with Shane and he's so out of shape form he got an injury in less than one minute.

Yes, that segment was foolish. I doubt any fan on Earth woke up on Sunday and said, “I’d really like to see Shane McMahon appear.” Not only it is an airtime issue for this tired Brit (enough with the ads, recaps and so much else!), but, as you show, Lashley VS Solo would have been high intensity.
I wonder who decided that Shane would appear. Does Vince have any creative control? I’ve hopefully shown in my posts that wrestling is subjective, we like what we like, and a wrestler that is popular with one fan might not be popular with enough. But I just don’t think anyone desired a Shane McMahon appearance.

It was Butch Miller who passed away. Loved the pair as the Sheepherders, hated the goofy Bushwackers version; but, I don't blame them for taking the money and taking it easy on their bodies. Steve Rickard, the New Zealand wrestler and promoter brought them to Hawaii and they went to Stampede, as the Kiwis. They started herding sheep, in Portland, in 1979, then to work for Crockett, in 1980, then Puerto Rico, then Butch went home and Luke started teaming with ex-Royal Kangaroos member Jonathan Boyd. That was the version, I first saw, in Southwest Championship, before Butch returned, in 1983. Loved their matches against the Fantastics, in the UWF and WCW. Funny guys, in shoot interviews, too.

Max Crabtree wrestled until brother Brian was injured and brother Shirley, aka Big Daddy, retired. He moved into booking and was booking for Joint Promotions, through the 70s and was instrumental in bringing in foreign wrestlers, like Satoru Sayama (as Sammy Lee) and Akira Maeda (as Quick Kick Lee) and for developing young stars, like Dynamite Kid, Davey Boy Smith and Steven/William Regal. He was actually going to set up a rival promotion, with Jackie Pallo and Johnny Dale, but, Dale passed away and Joint Promotions came to him to join up and promote the North. He developed the Big Daddy gimmick and brought Shirley out of retirement. Over time, though, the emphasis on Big Daddy weakened the box office and ITV removing wrestling from their line-up killed things. Crabtree was also notorious for low payoffs, with 30 pounds for main event and 25 pounds for other matches, then waving money at wrestlers to job to Big Daddy. Those later years did a lot to damage his reputation with wrestlers.

I'll be the first to admit I was completely duped by the RAW Main Event when Brock turned on Cody....

I didn’t see that coming, either. Brock VS Cody at WrestleMania Backlash?
