Honestly don't like over-rated Goldberg and the way he just walks out and not only demands a Title match ahead of everyone else, but gets it.
Was disgusted on last night's Smackdown, spoiled the rest of the show.
Goldberg famously did not want to have a match with Jericho (even though Jericho was building up a feud by himself with him for weeks) because he thought doing so was beneath him
I still have fond memories of Goldberg, but he was very much a "one-note" wrestler who just did squash matches. The fact that he's a total butt doesn't surprise me

You can imagine the type of people who were in Goldberg's ear at the time -- Hall, Nash, Hogan. They ended up having a fight backstage in the WWF that Jericho famously "won." They did business together after that, so all's fair in love and wrestling.

You can imagine the type of people who were in Goldberg's ear at the time -- Hall, Nash, Hogan. They ended up having a fight backstage in the WWF that Jericho famously "won." They did business together after that, so all's fair in love and wrestling. I was about to say, it was well known that Nash was in his ear to squash the idea of feuding with Jericho. Goldberg was booked wonderfully, at the start and it was a fan creation, as people started talking about the streak. Then, WCW, true to their nature, screwed it up by inflating the numbers on air, to where he is suddenly winning 20 matches in a week, when they only had 3 or 4 dates in between Nitros. Then, they gave away a PPV main event to fill a stadium, for tv and didn't build a program for him to take the belt off of Hogan. Then they had Nash beat him, which was the wrong person, and waaaaaay to soon. After that, Goldberg was an afterthought. His WWF time was not handled well, the first time, since he wasn't a Vince creation. Vince has never been good about repackaging someone who was over before coming to him. The initial expansion crew were already over in multiple territories and he promoted them on bigger stages. Beyond that, you had a stream on guys who were repackaged in bad gimmicks that went against what worked for them, like Terry Taylor, Barry Windham, or Lex Lugar, as an All-American babyface. Jericho is the only one I have ever heard that had a beef with Goldberg, other than Bret and the concussion. Even Bret didn't hold that big of a grudge. Jericho has had problems with a lot of people, from Smokey Mountain to WCW, the WWE and beyond. he seems to be the common factor in all of it. I like him in the ring; but, he can be a douche backstage.

By the by, Shane McMahon has been future endeavored by his own father!
That's cold!
All is not what it seems. He was working under a performance contract and assisting with producing the Royal Rumble; but, it appears that he was being over-ruled by Vince, there were complaints about him pushing himself and Vince basically sent him home, rather than outright firing. He's a shareholder and a McMahon; so, he is hardly fired, since he owns shares in the company. Mostly a move to get Shane out of the situation.
Shane actually walked away from the business and struck out on his own, a few years back. The deal didn't work out; but, he is the only family member to try to do something on his own. I think Vince probably respects that, though he mostly did it because it was clear he wasn't going to be the one running things, after Vince.
More and more, I get the feeling that they really are looking to sell out and be done with things. Nick Khan's actions seemed geared towards cleaning up the books for a potential buyer, by cutting down cost, though their revenue and profits are strong. Triple H is been out of things since the heart "event" and one suspects that his health may be a bigger issue than they publicly revealed (which could lead to potential suits from other shareholders, if true, as that would be a violation of their fiduciary responsibilities to shareholders, by hiding such information). His team has been dismantled and let go, from NXT and people are asking for releases, if they haven't already been dropped.
The only logical plan would seem to be stripping down the operation to get a higher bid for the company and then sell off to a media conglomerate who wants both a content provider and a performance company. NBC Universal is in bed with them for the Peacock deal and has a history with them, Fox has had dealings and shown interest, and Disney is alleged to be courting them. They continue to chase a male market, which fueled their buys of Marvel Comics, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox. They also have experience with touring attractions.
Meanwhile, many are questioning whether there might be issues with Vince's mental health. Vince has always gone his own way; but, people who worked with him say his decisions and actions seem contrary to the Vince of the past and he seems rather odd, in his public appearances. If he is suffering from some form of dementia, that would also be a legal issue for the company, as such matters are related to the health of the company and must be disclosed to shareholders. Who really knows?
It will be interesting to see what happens, in the near future.

WWE run by Disney certainly would be interesting... would they move to Disney Plus? Or would they try to go more mainstream? I've tried watching a couple times, and it's just a snooze fest.. same old talent running the same angles over and over. I think it's definitely time for change, and it seems like HHH is no long the heir apparent, sadly.

Disney at the helm would seem to present what you see now; WWE as the attraction and the actual wrestlers pretty much being interchangeable. Their new recruitment program is geared towards anyone other than wrestlers and fans of wrestling. The wrestlers would probably be as interchangeable as the Mouseketeers. You could get some interesting gimmicks though: New tag-team sensation Spin & Marty! Badass heel Peg-Leg Pete Trio of Huey, Dewey and Louie Manager of Champions Cruella DeVille All British wrestlers will have to speak in a Dick Van Dyke accent When a babyface shows fire, he will spurt and gesticulate like an angry Donald Duck Any evil stable will be called The Union. Some babyface will be called Simba. The women's division will transition from being called Divas to Princesses Disney will combine franchises and Darth Vader will face The Predator in a Sith Death Match The Marvel Superheroes will battle against the Disney Villains and a horde of Aliens. Mickey Mouse will be the authority figure.

Former AWA Women's Champion Candi Divine has passed away, at age 63, after a series of seizures. She was born Candace Rummel, in January, 1959 and grew up a wrestling fan, in the Nashville area. She had a crush on Leaping Lanny Poffo and started a fan club for him, in the Poffo ICW promotion and worked her way into being a ring attendant and general gopher, where she was often exploited for menial tasks (and likely some other wrestler favorite activities). She wanted to become a wrestler and was pushed out by the Poffos, but Tennessee outlaw promoter Dale Mann took her under his wing and trained her, alongside Phyllis Burch, who wrestled as Diane Von Hoffman, often against Divine. Divine worked as an independent, often for smaller promotions throughout the country, when the AWA came calling. After the success of Wendy Richter in the WWF, women's wrestling had a bit of a resurgence and there were several wrestlers out there who worked independently, rather than as part of Moolah's troupe. Moolah's group tended towards a rougher physical appearance (not all; the more conventionally attractive and fit women tended to be used as babyfaces), but there were several women working the indie circuit who looked a bit more athletic and had model looks. The AWA had a battle royal to determine a new women's champion (a title last held by Betty Nicolli, in 1973) and Divine won, in November of 1984. Son she was defending the title against Sherri Martel, who became the star of the women's division and defeated her for the title in September 1985, at the first Super Clash card. The pair traded the title a few more times until the title was vacated when Martel joined the WWF. A few months later, Divine was defeated by new sensation Madusa Miceli, to win the vacant title. Miceli eventually lost it to Wendy Richter, who had returned to wrestling in the US, after a stint in Puerto Rico, while married to former wrestler and announcer Hugo Savinovich. Richter then left the AWA and Divine was again made the champion and held it until the end of the AWA, in 1991. She was one of the wrestlers involved in the Team Challenge series, which was the last tv program run by the AWA, where the wrestlers were split into two teams and competed in matches in a studio, with no audience. Divine toured around for other promotions and worked for the Ladies Pro Wrestling Association, an attempt at an all-women's promotion. There she was known as Goddess. She also worked for Windy City Wrestling, in Chicago, and Herb Abrams UWF promotion (see Dark Side of the Ring for its colorful history), where she defeated Tina Moretti aka Ivory (Lisa Moretti, aka Tina Ferrari, in GLOW) to win the title. Divine vs Sherri Martel... Divine vs Tina Moretti....

Yeah, he did re-sign but I am not happy at the way he's being used by the company.
I used to dislike the Alpha Academy but since the duo won the tag team belts, they've injected some good humour and do have a nice skill set....shoosh!

But that's WWE for you I guess

Oh yes, I do remember Heavy Machinery but had stopped watching wrestling for some time, especially when the crowds became monitors....
I'm not too fond of these matches in cages or behind bars....they are obtrusive....
