Well, this pretty much eats a giant crap sandwich. I have over 9500 comics from my collection catalogued there, including dates and locations purchased, prices paid, and notes about books (such as if the issue purchased was a replacement for a previously-owned but flawed issue or if the book is signed, double-covered, missing the MVS, etc.) I'm just hoping I can export all of that information, because if not, there goes a ten-year plus project down the drain. On the plus side, they're going to build something new that I have zero interest in and now I can keep track of my collection solely in Excel. Does anyone know if this supposed replacement for comicbookdb.com has surfaced? I used that site so much to look up the appearances of a character or creator, and could easily sort it either chronologically or by title. I haven't found another site that does this, at least not very easily. This sucks! I really miss that site! Why wouldn't they just have left it up, without any further updates?

Our man mountain is not allowed to be a part of the new Krakoa mutant life, he is lost and looking for his "place" in the mutant society. While I'd rather more Astro City I'll take anything by Mister Busiek so I'm none the less excited for his new series The Marvels which sounds a lot like Astro City only using actual Marvel characters.

I just read this !
Not a huge fan, or a hater, but if true, I'm glad he's gone.
DC was never as great as when Levitz was at the helm.
Jim Lee takes over now ?

Rumors are that Dan Didio is no longer co-publisher at DC. It's pretty much confirmed he was fired by higher ups at WB at 10:30 PT this morning, he was fired, for cause, for 'fostering a poor work environment' which is tied to a series of recent departures from the editorial staff. It happened suddenly and unexpectedly, as the DC people presenting at the ComicsPro event this morning in Portland found out as they were making their presentation and supposedly cut it short and left immediately. No word if they are going to replace Didio or whether Jim Lee will remain sole publisher for now, but it has been rumored it is linked to WB rethinking their publishing strategy as a whole and the direct market in particular. -M

Jacob Phillips (son of Sean) is following in his father's footsteps in his first outing as artist (he's been coloring his dad and Brubaker' books for awhile) in the neo-Western crime series: That Texas Blood.

Rumors are that Dan Didio is no longer co-publisher at DC. Egads the rumor mill is churning at Warp Factor 12 already! Let's see: they say AT&T/Warner Bro's doesn't want to do DiDio's 5G reboot (the 5th Generation) where the classic characters all replaced with modern/contemporary takes (like a black Batman, etc.) and then there is the rumor AT&T/Warner want to use Hollywood/movie/Television writers (with proven track records) on the DC comics. Further rumor that AT&T/Warner thinking about getting out of publishing and "farm" out DC comic to other comic companies (hints perhaps to Marvel) and other rumors that AT&T/Warner may want to sale DC comics (Ethan Van Sciver says) if the 5G fails reboot fails (will there be a 5G now that DiDio is out?) this summer. Yet even other rumors that AT&T DON'T WANT TO SELL DC as they see the value of the properties beyond comic books. Gonna be a long hot summer of sweating out the reality from the rumors and lies and fantasy.

I've never been a fan of his vision or writing so I can't say I'm terribly saddened. Hopefully things work out for the best.

I don't have a lot to say about Didio. For everything bad he did (and I think a lot of it was fan driven) he gave us something like Wednesday Comics and Solo. If nothing else he was willing to experiment a bit and try some new stuff and formats. On the other hand I could have done without the fan-boy embrace of the Geoff Johnsian minutiae. And while Vertigo was not the force it had been previously it was absolutely allowed to die on the vine under Didio.
