Looks like we're getting a new reboot of the DCU if I'm reading the timeline right. There's a lot of rampant speculation but little of actual substance out there about what it all means. Didio presented the whole thing Friday blurred, and then showed the Gen4 charts in better resolution on Saturday but no real context was given other than that this is something they have been working on, but nothing on what they are working towards. Lots of fan theories have emerged, but I suspect most of those are wishful thinking, and the usual chorus of "if what they come up with doesn't match my head canon I am done with DC" whining from fanboys. As much as I am not a fan of continuity porn and the way the big2 do shared sandboxes, the original The History of the DC Universe mini by Wolfman and Perez was instrumental in my development as a fan of the DC mythos, so I have a passing (mostly nostalgic) interest in this and what it could produce, but whatever it yields I don't see myself buying in financially very much. I guess its mostly morbid curiosity. -M

As sad as it is for me to say, I think at this point the only thing that would pique my interest is a legit complete reboot that had something new to say... I don't think any amount of fiddle will really re-kindle my interest in the DC (or MArvel ) Universes as a whole/

The early guest list for Gem City Comic Con in Dayton. OH, April 25-26, 2020, this is the 15th anniversary of the show... I think I am most excited for William Stout... -M

Hopefully it will be. But frankly, even when I could access the site, I never used it very much. I've always preferred the Grand Comics Database (GCD).

Well, this pretty much eats a giant crap sandwich. I have over 9500 comics from my collection catalogued there, including dates and locations purchased, prices paid, and notes about books (such as if the issue purchased was a replacement for a previously-owned but flawed issue or if the book is signed, double-covered, missing the MVS, etc.) I'm just hoping I can export all of that information, because if not, there goes a ten-year plus project down the drain. On the plus side, they're going to build something new that I have zero interest in and now I can keep track of my collection solely in Excel.

I have exported data from there before, but I've never tried to do the "Notes" section. We shall see.

In Jeff Lemire's newsletter, he mentioned finishing his next graphic novel (220 pages of art, no title mentioned as of yet) and that his next new project is writing something that Dean Ormston will be drawing called Madame Dragonfly. I am curios to see what this is. He mentions Garth Ennis' Hellblazer work as being an inspiration for it.
His new Image series with Phl Hester called Family Tree launches this week as well.

The license for Will Eisner's The Spirit has moved again. Dynamite has lost the license and a new publisher, Clover Press has gained it and will be putting out Spirit Books in 2020 in a new format... Bleeding Cool has the storyfrom the article... -M

Should be interesting to see. From the gist of the article, it's all reprints with new coloring rather than new material. As much as I might enjoy that, I have a good chunk of the material in one form or another (either Spirit Archives or the Kitchen Sink series) so I am not sure I will be up to rebuying it in yet another format, but we will see. What I am curious about is whether there will be any new material and what creators they might get on it. One of my favorite series was Kitchen Sink's The Spirit: The New Adventures, which featured new 8 pages from a variety of creators rather than an ongoing/long-form limited series like DC or Dynamite tried to do, and I would like to see something like that if they do new material. -M

And I have a few issues of the New Adventures run and really enjoyed them. That would be very cool.

That's great news about The Spirit reprints, though we'll have to see how the format and prices look before celebrating too soon. I've managed to pick up 3 or 4 of the Archives hard-covers but they really are quite expensive so I'm hoping these new ones will be an economical alternative.
