Mixed feelings about that.
I think I'm satisfied with where the series ended (even if it was not an intended ending).

His assistants should be able to handle the art okay. My reservations involve the story. Mori said he's only going to include things that Miura told him about and won't add anything else to it. Berserk was notoriously slow moving. Are things going to pick up from here on out? Is it just going to be straight plot to the end? It's not a concern as such. I'm just curious.

Apparently there's a sequel in the works for Joaquin Phoenix's Joker film, and it's going to be a musical; Lady Gaga is in talks to play Harley Quinn in this sequel.

Don't know, we'll have to wait for those announcements. I'm sur ethe Moench stuff will get collected editions (omnibus? Epic Collection?) but no idea how they will go about new stuff. -M

Is Planet of the Apes considered some of Moench's better work? He's very hit-or-miss for me. Either he gets carried away with the purple prose, or his stories just aren't that engaging, or he turns in something really good.

Titan Comics has acquired the comics license for Conan and other Robert E. Howard characters. A new Conan the Barbarian series will launch in May 2023. Titan has already been working with the Conan rights holders to produce new prose Conan books and has a new series of Conan pastiche novels set to debut this October as well as a behind the scenes book about the Conan movie. Story here Roquefort Raider-M

I'd love a new Moench Apes story! It feels strange to see Marvel go back to these licensed books again after leaving them behind for so long. I think it more an offshoot of Disney acquiring Fox and wanting to see how well what they have performs in the market more than Marvel deciding to go after licenses. The Conan license didn't work for them, but it was something they went out and got rather than something already under their umbrella. Star Wars was under their umbrella and worked. Also, Star Wars, Aliens etc. could be hosted on Unlimited and used to drive subs, Conan could not. Apes I believe can be, so it is a triple potential revenue stream for the license-new single issue sales in print and digitally, collected edition sales in print and digitally, and new potential subs to Unlimited. With the print market as small as it is, any new venture has to have revenue potential in multiple venues to make it worthwhile. Apes does. Conan underperformed in the two venues they had for it, and the missing third venue of Unlimited probably went a long way towards them choosing not to re up that license. I am not sure how well Ultraman did or if it included Unlimited rights as well, but I don't really see Marvel going for licensed properties outside of those already under the Disney umbrella moving forward unless they get a sweetheart of a deal. -M

I think Marvel has an Epic volume including one of them scheduled, but I don't want waste space and money on the other included stories.
