Is that in any way different from the version that's been available online alll these years, I wonder?

If that's true it would be the only incentive I can think of to buy it. If only there were way to pay Moore without paying DC at the same time, that would be my preference.

Will he get paid this time? His usual attitude to any of his work by DC or Marvel being reprinted seems to be "Give the money to the artist, don't put my name on it and don't bother me about it.", but in this case there is not actually an artist.

No surprise with the movie upcoming, but Marvel is launching a new Eternals series by Kieron Gillen and Esad Ribic... First issue will drop in November. I am willing to bet berkley will not be on board as it appears this is another re-imagining of the concept rather than a continuation of the Kirby series status quo. I am willing to give Gillen a shot and I think I will dig Ribic's style on this type of series. I may not like the series when all is said and done, but it is about as A list a creative team as you could get in the current marketplace for a book. -M

That Ribic cover shows they already have no clue what Kirby's Eternals was about. It shows the "evolution" of humanity through time into Eternal's. Kirby showed Eternal and Deviant and Humanity as 3 separate and individual races/species evolving across time on Earth. Each an individual "seed" of humanity planted to grow side by side as an experiment. The experiment failing as all 3 should have united and became as one and rather than unite Eternal and Deviant had chosen to hide and keep to themselves out of fear and mistrust, only to unite when the Celestials returned for judgement of what was sown. Is it "too little too late" or can humanity in the form of all 3 unite and overcome our failings to evolve and becoming the best we can be before the end comes?

So I just caught the tail end of the Sandman panel at the DC Fandome event and Neil Gaiman offered the the following interesting tidbit when talking about the audio adaptation vs. the Netfilx series. The audio adaptation is pretty much a straight up retelling of Sandman, and the events start in 1916 with the capture of Morpheus but the actual story of the Sandman series takes place between 1988-1991 and so is kind of a period piece now. The Netfilx series is taking a slightly different approach-Morpheus is captured in 1916 still, but the event which launches the story, i.e. the escape, doesn't happen in 1988 but now and they are exploring how that will affect the characters, stories etc. so it is in essence a modern retelling of Sandman and is allowing Gaiman to re-explore some of the ground he explored in the series with fresh eyes.
Could be interesting.

A rarity, but I’m willing to try the latest Eternals.

A rarity, but I’m willing to try the latest Eternals. Question is which of the 37 covers do you choose? What a stupid way for Marvel to cash in on DC cutting back. Let's swamp our readers with a bunch of covers instead of some quality comics. Way to be part of the problem in declining readership guys. Don't make mine Marvel should be the new motto.

I'm Comixology. I've gone digital except for some back issues that aren't in that format yet.

No, doesn't look like my kind of thing. I think Gillen is one of the best comics writers around and if it so happened that he felt inspired by Kirby's Eternals and wanted to write something based on that inspiration I might be interested in what he came up with. But most likely this will suffer from the same fatal flaw as previous re-imaginings like Gaiman's: it's a MU story with the Eternals re-imagined to fit in with standard MU product (or in this case perhaps MCU?), not an Eternals story re-imagined on the basis of how the creators feel about the Eternals.
I usually like Ribic's stuff too, but this looks very hit and miss: for example, I thought Zuras looked promising but Thena's new armour didn't look good.

Not a news item about an upcoming series but something I noticed while looking at comixology today that seemed odd...comixology has all of DC's new books out today instead of Wednesday. It doesn't look like a glitch either as I went back to last week and DC's books again were listed under new on Tuesday. Anybody know when this started or why?
Was it a part of their new distribution plan that I just missed before?

On sale date/street date for DC books through the two new distributors in Tuesdays, not Wednesdays, so Comixology is following suit with the digital copies. It's been a bone of contention with retailers in the whole mess that is DC leaving Diamond. -M
