I choose Jean Grey (Marvel Girl). I don't have more than a passing familiarity with any of the listed characters. Really kicking myself for missing that option.

It's the first Marvel Comics Captain Marvel for me. I loved everything about that character once he was made over by Thomas and Kane and transformed into the Cosmic protector of the Universe. I'm usually a Jim Shooter fan/ apologist , but I will say that he made a mistake by approaching Starlin to kill Marvell. He claimed that they didn't know what to do with him anymore.

LOL, yes, I was just getting ready to post this illustrating my favorite "Marvel" character and then I saw your post True story: some years ago I mentioned to someone who was supposedly a diehard comic book fan that my favorite Silver Age character was Marvel Girl. A few months later at a Christmas get-together he proudly told me he'd gotten me a present he knew I'd love--an old comic starring my "favorite character." Well, it was a Ms. Marvel comic (a character I have never had any interest in). Diehard comic book fan my a$$

Mar-Vell for me, his book ended as I started actively collecting, I read that last issue (with the glorious Pat Broderick art) to shreds. The red and black/blue outfit is IMHO one of THE greatest supersuits of all time, a Gil Kane classic. Gil Kane did a great Mar-Vell. As much as I love Gene Colan's art his Mar-Vell looked like an old man--and that awful costume! In Kane's hands the character was magnificent, stunning. Adams did a great Mar-Vell too over in the Kree-Skrull War Avengers issues.

Voted for Billy.
Mar-Vell was also great, but Billy was truly an original. Those stories, and the template, are as classic in their own way as Superman.
I will say, not to slight Mar-Vell, he's one of my very favorite Marvel characters.
Loved Marvelman by Moore and friends as well.

Monica Rambeau for me. Though Billy Batson is a close second. Would have really liked to see Monica in the MCU.

Monica Rambeau for me. Though Billy Batson is a close second. Would have really liked to see Monica in the MCU. She was in Captain Marvel. (She was, like, 8. But she was there!)

Monica Rambeau for me. Though Billy Batson is a close second. Would have really liked to see Monica in the MCU. I liked Monica a lot when Stern wrote her in the Avengers, but she pretty much disappeared after he left the title. And yeah, I totally overlooked Marvel Girl too!

For me alone, I don't think of Marvel (Jean Grey) Girl at all ... I go by Jean Grey only, and never, ever think of her as Marvel Girl.
To be honest here, I always call her Jean Grey exclusively.
