I guess this takes away the excuse that Marvel won't publish John Byrne's "Everwhen" story because they want to focus on X-Men stories set in the present.

Yay! It is probably a good idea for even old dudes to buy something from Marvel once a year or so.

I wasn't familiar with Martin Simmonds, but his variant cover is pretty impressive. Warlock is hard to get right.

I picked it up. Fun for nostalgia, weird to think that Sienkiewicz is using an art style that he used 35 years ago. That would be like using a 1945 art style in 1980. Looks good, though. Staying spoiler free, I'll say that the plot is a big fight. Claremont was best at internal conflict and ongoing stories, so a one-shot fight issue doesn't play to his writing strengths. This story seems to take place soon after the Asgard story since Karma is present and skinny, and Dani isn't a full on demon. Doug and Warlock seem to have never merged before, which is a minor continuity hole; they merged in the Asgard story.

Apparently all the original pages of this were on display at New York Comic Con this week. They've all been sold, perhaps to a single collector. The original pages on his web site are now listed at $5,000 each, so that's probably what each of these 30 pages sold for. Not a bad haul, Bill!

Now there's a new New Mutants title, initially written by Jonathan Hickman. Rod Reis' art looks good. I didn't think much of Bob McLeod's variant cover for War Children, but his Illyana variant cover for the new series is both immediately recognizable as his work, and really cool.
