The idea that Karnak was never exposed to the Terrigen Mists nor ever had "super-powers" is a new one to me. While he isn't as mutated as some of his fellows, his head is definitely "more than human." I too would be inclined to throw that retcon out.

Okay, okay — I don't hate Wondie. That said, but I'm not a fan, either. Normally I love female characters who are both mentally and physically strong, but a character who hails from a matriarchal society completely devoid of men, who regularly interacts with anthropomorphic gods ... it's a formula which simply doesn't resonate with me. Not even George Perez's relaunch made the character interesting to me.

Over time, I've only had a lukewarm interest in The Inhumans, but you picked two masterful examples of the characters.

tarkintino ... both of them are quite masterful and I almost put Triton into my top 100 characters because he reminded me of Savage Dragon. I just find half of them not that in my cup of tea ... I forgot to mention that Crystal, Medusa, and Black Bolt made the list. I have some issues with Karnak, Maximus Boltagon (Black Bolt's brother), and Gorgon to a lesser degree. I loved Lockjaw and Ahura Boltagon the Son of Black Bolt and Medusa. kirby101 ... picked two great splash pages of them. You can see that I liked half of the group and other half not so; and knowing that ... I just have a difficult time measuring them up and that failed TV Series did that group no justice and that's why I wished that they had more respect and handled differently and that alone could gave them better sense of awe and respect that they rightfully deserve. I don't know nothing of the Modern Karnak and yet my Karnak was in the early days of the Fantastic Four of which I just find his way of doing things not what I expected and I don't want to dwell on it.

The Inhumans always had great art in their own series, too! Their first run in Amazing Adventures had Kirby replaced by Adams, their first stab at their own title had Perez and Gil Kane. (And some Mike Sekowsky at his VERY worst in the middle of all of this, but ya can't win 'em all.)
Great stuff from Jae Lee in the '90s series as well.

Somehow, it’s always the Sekowsky art that comes to mind when I think of the Inhumans... but you’re right, they have had stellar artists more often than not!

This might be better placed in the Politics thread, Repti. I'd hate to see any nasty exchanges about current U.S. politics spill over into this thread.

The idea that Karnak has no powers because he was never exposed to the Terrigen Mist came from Mark Gruenwald by way of the original Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe series. I have no idea when the notion popped up in the comics proper, but I suspect it was after I stopped following Marvel in '86.
And what's the idea of folks here dissing Razorback? Didn't I prove in Avengers Triumphant that Buford is awesome?!?
Cei-U! I've said for years that if Marvel ever offered me a minor character to build a series around it would be either Razorback or Stingray!

From yours truly, a Punisher fan (I like the character, but he's not one to aspire to): I cannot stand Trump and wake up dreading his latest tweets - I don't follow him but retweets usually end up on my page - so there's no link at this end!

OK, let's not turn this into a Trump bashing/supporting conversation. We have the Politics Thread for that. This is a fun thread for talking about those superheros that you find most annoying etc.

I'm missing the issue of the original series, but I checked in the deluxe edition. Kind of weird that he would make that up if there was no prior exposition in the comics. So would his unusual physical attribute make him...a mutant?

I'm with ya on Stingray but going by the picture posted earlier, that Razorback would need a pretty drastic make-over before I'd want to see him in a comic.
It seems like whenever I hear about something stupid that happened at Marvel after I stopped following them in the 80s, there's a good chance it can be traced back to Mark Gruenwald. Or maybe it's just the Inhumans, because the other example I can think of right now is deciding that Black Bolt was a shortened form of his real name "Blackagar Boltagon" (!). This guy should never have been allowed near a typewriter again, as far as I'm concerned.
