Two words: Astro City.'Nuff said. Funnily enough, my friend's a fan of Astro City but I've never gotten around to reading it. But I did purchase the first 5 collected volumes a couple of months back and am really looking forward to seeing what everyone is so excited about. I expect they'll be a lot of fun.

I'll mention McGovern and Leandri's Nightworld, if it qualifies. More of a mystic or supernatural series but there is a kind of superhero-y costumed lead character. One of my favourite things from the last few years. Of course I enthusiastically second Jaime Hernandez's Ti-Girls and Ennis's The Boys.
