I still prefer the Edmund Gwenn version of Miracle on 34th St.
Years ago I worked with a guy who grew up in the Soviet Union. He knew before moving to the US that Christmas was a big deal in America, but the "Christmas music" genre was completely new to him.

As far as Christmas music I like anything from TSO to Kenny G. Sitting there with the Christmas tree lit and the fire place and Kenny G playing... Feels peaceful.

I mostly hate Christmas music. But I mostly hate Christmas.
I can handle some jazz Christmas music. And by that I mean real jazz. All practitioners of "smooth jazz" should be boiled in their own pudding.

The only Christmas music I listen to each year is the Vince Guaraldi Trio. As for the rest of the season, it's pretty much Bah Humbug!

AFTER Thanksgiving I really enjoy turning on the 24hr Radio Christmas music at night as I go to bed. It is soothing, relaxing and reminds me of earlier childhood when staying with my grandparents up in Payson in the mountains with dark nights and snow during the holidays. Going to a warm bed while the adults were up cooking, wrapping and playing penny Poker as Christmas records played in the background. A peaceful drifting off to sleep that renews the heart and mind that there are better days and stronger hopes for peace and prosperity in the world. But please, not until after I have slept of the turkey over-indulgence!

Ok, after some thought, there is one other thing I like about Christmas season...The Twelve Days of Christmas event hosted by Cei-U! here. Anyone else counting the days until the topic for this year is announced?! -M

Christmas is b*llocks! Well, except for the Classic Comics Christmas, of course.

It sounds like there is a large Festivus contingent here? When does the official pole of grievances go up? I think if I convert to full on Pastafarianism I might have to have spaghetti and turkey balls... so not real sure about this even if I do like to wear the sacred colander. I forgot Vince Guaraldi, I can enjoy him and Brubeck etc. anytime. I do like Bing in general too, that guy could sing the phone book and I'd like it! I don't want to dump on Kenny G since I found out he was involved in some cool '60s--'70s Seattle soul/funk music. Wheedle's Groove! I pretty much just tune out and thus don't support music and art I'm not into, I don't want to become a 'hater'... unless some fanatic is raving at me and I have to set 'em straight maybe. "Look, Michael Jackson did not invent funk and disco music or moonwalking, and his king of pop title is something he made up and insisted on contractually 'kay? Barry Gibb wrote lots more pop hits."

Every christmas at the station I work at I DJ a punk rock xmas show, plus I fill in on Xmas day for 6 hours but I only play non traditional holiday stuff - I call it the No Standards Christmas broadcast. So I'm always looking for new stuff - my current favorite this year is Hey Skinny Santa! by JD McPherson
