Amazing Spider-Man #4.Written by Nick Spencer. Art and Cover by Ryan Ottley. The story of the "split in two" of Peter & Spider-Man continues. The rats that were split died. Peter realizes he needs to reunite with his Spider-Man persona but Spidey is enjoying himself too much being "freed" from Peter's sense of responsibility. Despite this being a story we have seen before in other media (like Star Trek) Spencer puts a "fresh coat of paint" on it making it entertaining. Paired with Ottley's art this is good old fashioned old school Spider-Man. 7/10.

The Terrifics #7.Written by Jeff Lemire. Art and Cover by Dale Eaglesham. Welcome to Millennium City! The team travels to Tom Strong's universe to find answers & finds more questions as Tom Strong is missing and his lab is destroyed. Also Rex is human again. And Mr Terrific confronts Simon Stagg about causing everything that has happened to the team. Like mrjupiter I am really enjoying the Silver Age feel to this title. It has become one of my favorites. 9/10.

Flash #53.Written by Joshua Williamson. Art by Christian Duce. The team up with Commander Cold (trapped here from the 25th century) continues. They continue to battle the Trickster that has tapped into the Strength Force. Wolfe from Iron Heights double crosses the Flash who also taps into the Strength Force. I have mixed feelings about this arc. I miss both Wallys. I'm not sure I like all the different forces that are now present. And the art is just average. 6/10.

Daredevil #607.Written by Charles Soule. Art and Cover by Phil Noto. Mike Murdock has become "real" due to the Inhuman Reader's powers. And Mike's envy of Matt drives him to threaten anyone Matt cares about. A silly premise as hoosier x commented but Soule is putting a nice twist on it making for an entertaining story. 6/10.

Justice League Dark #2Written by James Tynion IV Art by Alvaro Bueno Summary: With a trip to the tower of Fate the team learns that things are worse than they feared. Plot: Tynion's tale of the end of magic on Earth continues it's slow unfolding as we learn more of what the threat is and how it got set free. In a lot of ways the pacing of this book is like a good horror tale with a slow set up with the monster lurking just out of sight is fitting with the supernatural focus of the comic, while that seems a given it's easy to turn it into just another generic super hero team book so it's promising that Tynion is keeping to form. Art: I still think Bueno's greatest contribution to the book is his take on Swamp Thing; his take is just stunning. In the review for the last issue I mentioned how enthralled I was with the way Bueno added a beard and long hair to Swampy with vines and moss but what I loved here is just how skull like the face is under that green muck. Swamp Thing's visage is truly grotesque in the close ups here and that's as it should be. Grade:7/10 I'm really liking this book. A lot more than the main Justice League title being written by Snyder. I have to go back and read the first issue again though, because for some reason I forgot where we left off when I read this one. I do remember I liked the first one though. This entire trip trying to find out what is happening with magic in the world is an interesting mystery to me. I also like the group that's been set up here. We have at max two heavy hitters with Wonder Woman, and Swamp Thing on the team. Everyone else as far as their "abilities" go, aren't a "big gun" I would say. Zatanna's magic seems to be on the fritz anyway. I feel this increases the danger factor. I thought Wonder Woman wouldn't be a great addition to the team, but she's been a good fit thus far. Doesn't seem like she's just there for the book to sell or bridge new readers...even if she is. The opening anecdote about Wonder Woman's childhood experience is something that I'm anxious about going forward. Maybe there is a connection. Oh, and also the Upside Down Man. Looks like a nasty boss fight about to commence. I wasn't familiar with Alvaro Bueno's art before. He's made a good first impression on me. I think he's just doing the pencils, but the inks, and coloring looks great too. I've felt for a while DC has had the more talented artists working for them. Maybe that is why I usually stick to their books. BTW, what was the conversation between Swamp Thing, and John Constaintine eluding too? Was Alec basically saying he was going to retire, and set up camp at that tree?

I think the last bit between Constantine and Swamp Thing was about old Swampy taking up a position with the Parliament of Trees and leaving the world behind.

The Terrifics #1By Jeff Lemire Art by Joe Prado, Ivan Reis I'm a fan of both Plastic-Man and Metamorpho and I not much of a fan of Mr. Terrific here (for personal reasons that I don't want to share here) and I do like Phantom Girl and she is a refreshing addition to this squad that mimic the legendary Fantastic Four of Marvel Comics. I was reading Terrifics #1 late last night and I was pleasantly surprised by the work of Jeff here and the art was excellent being done by Joe Prado and the cover done by Reis. Looking at the costumes -- I liked the White and Black Color Schemes for Plastic-Man, Phantom Girl, and Mr. Terrific -- I just felt that Metamorpho is a bit out of place here; but I'm not complaining at all. This book is an excellent read and all that; but earlier this year -- I told everyone here that I'm not writing any more reviews of books that are Modern (in the present here) because I'm just burned out writing them. This group is a dynamic -- Plastic-Man is more fun than Mr. Fantastic, Metamorpho is the group version of the The Thing and Phantom Girl is Invisible Girl. Mr. Terrific is similar to Mr. Fantastic in terms of being the brains behind this team and he does an excellent job of delegating the tasks to the other three and I can accept Jeff's ideas of handling it altogether. I know that I haven't read #2 to #7 yet and it's may take me awhile for me to play catch up and all; but this group is pretty darn cool and I don't personally like Mr. Terrific here but Jeff does a good job with this character and I can accept it with open arms. Book a Solid 9/10 done just great by Jeff ... the art is excellent too and I was stunned by the feel of this group of which it is a solid group that will be a fan favorite and always be.

Glad you liked it. IMO the story gets better after Lemire gets the "set up" done (in #1-3). I like the 3 part arcs so far. One problem is multiple artists. 5 in 7 issues.

Thanks for the heads up; I'll be getting #2 to #7 by this Friday and hope to have them read in 3 days or less and appreciate the information about the "artists" ... I understand that completely.
