So I found this today... * I used to have this as a kid but haven't seen one since 1977 or so since we moved from the house and we lived when I got it and had to get rid of some of my toys in the move. I checked out a new place here in town (well new to me it's been here for a bit but I never went in before) that is a used video game/dvd place, but I had heard rumblings they had started getting comics and vintage toys in too. Not much of selection of comics (mostly 90s junk books for $1 each), but a pretty solid selection of movies and games, and a smattering of toys mostly vintage (a lot of action figures, about half of which were Spawn or McFaralne toys though). To my surprise, they actually had an arcade in a back room off the main store with about 3 dozen coin-op games set up, so that was a cool discovery as well. I talked to the manager, and he said they are starting to get more toys in on a regular basis, so I may have to start checking them out a bit more often. I picked up a few DVDs while there too (including Season 1 of The Six Million Dollar Man) and a couple of comics. -M *stock pic I haven't pulled mine out of the box yet for a photo)

I'm not really a Bust or figure collector. I feel after the initial thrill, it becomes a dust collector. Gee from all your other posts and comments, I would think you of all people would appreciate a good-looking bust.... -M After 6 months I finally got your joke...

My wife and I took a ride down the a large indoor/outdoor flea market this morning called Ceasar's Creek to nose around and see what we could find. No comics joy per se, but found some toys to add to the collection... here's the haul... A 70s vintage Batman LP with 4 stories recorded on it, A Star Trek Power Record and Book set, a Star Wars and Black Hole record and book set, a Hot Wheels USS Enterprise, still carded Hawkgirl from the Justice League line, still carded Doctor Fate from the Justice League Unlimited line, and 3 loose Indiana Jones figures (all three for $1 total) two form the most recent Indy line of action figures and one was a toy from a fast food kids meal of some sort (need to do a little research to nail down exactly what it is). It seems I have become a record and book set collector as I got my first (the Conan Power Record set) earlier this year, and now I have 7 total plus the Batman LP (plus 2 comics only missing the records for WW and Supes from Power Records that I've had for a looong time). I also picked up the complete Firefly series on DVD for $3 form the same vendor I got the BAtman LP form, my wife is a big fan but we didn't own a copy of the show. -M

Picked up an affordable and well worn copy of the Micronaut's Andromeda at the antique center here in town today...no charge to take a pic, but for those who don't know what it is... my box is in similar shape, and I was missing 1 spoke, 1 black magnet and the instructions, but the price was right so I pulled the trigger. -M

We had Force Commander and, I though it was Andromeda, but ours was white.
The tail broke the first night we had it.

Though I'm relatively retired in my toy collecting, once per year, when we do our annual summer vacation to Wildwood NJ, I allow myself to indulge in a local toy shop on the boardwalk there and geek out like a ten year old all over again. This time, I picked up the new Transformers Titans Return Powermaster Optimus Prime and the Marvel 3.75" X-Men First Class 2 pack: I'm a huge fan of the original Transformers Powermaster Optimus Prime. In fact, back in the day, I used to concoct all sorts of alternate transformation modes for my Transformers that converted into bases/cities. As the Titans Return Powermaster Optimus Prime has such a lackluster city mode, this wasn't much of a challenge this time. Here's the official city mode: And here's mine, choc full of platforms and rooms for the maximum city feel: As for the X-Men figures, I already own these two (3 times over). One thing I love about the Marvel 3.75" figures is how easy it is to interchange body parts. I've been working on a full X-Men Blue and Gold team: Left to right: Havok (Captain Marvel head), Marvel Girl, Magik (Invisible Woman head), Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Storm, Rogue (with a G.I. Joe head and jacket), Wolverine (with parts from two different Wolverine figures), Kitty Pryde, Prof. Xavier So a pretty awesome series of acquisitions for me that have allowed me to get a little creative with them while channeling my inner ten year old

It's neat that you've built a big X-Men team by interchanging parts. I've been cutting down on my collecting and instead trying to make my own figures of characters I like that have never been in action figure form. I'm starting with Corvo and Daud from Dishonored. I'm almost ready to begin construction on Daud, as I've located a good base for the body and the head. I know nothing about painting or sculpting figures, but I think I've found some pieces that are fairly close to how he appears in-game.

In celebration of finding out I don't have cancer (there was a scare), I pulled the trigger on ordering two shirts I've been wanting for a long time now, both from Geek's Crate:

Congratulations on not having cancer !
My dad was shaken this week and I think he was thinking he might have cancer after smoking his entire life. The doctor said no cancer but he's got calcification in his lungs from smoking. He's relieved, but I think that doesn't sound very good either.

Hopefully, it will be the impetus for your dad to take his health more seriously. I'm glad he's okay.

I'm very happy and relived that you don't have cancer and it's something that's not supposed to take lightly and grateful that you are doing great and as a reward you got yourself two great tee shirts for the Summer Days ahead. Congratulations and thanks for informing us!

He really hasn't taken it seriously until the last couple of years, long after the damage is done.
He's a great guy, but he has Superman genes. He and my granddad both had em. If you saw how they smoked and drank, you say it would've killed a squadron of regular guys years ago.
I don't count on it but my son and I both have their alcohol tolerance, for whatever that's worth.
