Shameful confession time. Tried the first issues/arcs of all the ABC line. Loved them. Bought them all. Know they’ll be fun reads whenever I make the time to finish them. Have never read more. All too common with me actually.

All too common with me actually. My mom and me where first getting into comics when ABC hit. My mom was absolutely in love with and bought anything Alan Moore related without a single thought, have very fond memories of Tomorrow Stories and Tom Strong, even if I was a little young for the material (I was around 9 or 10)

Man, it looks like the original JLa/Avengers crossover might have been more fun if completed.

Alan Moore's initial proposal for the America's Best Comics line... (from the files of Scott Dunbier) transcription... -M Interesting proposal. You can tell by the letter that Moore really loved the Silver age. I'm wondering, I don't recall there being a team book in the line.

Top 10 was sort of a team book.

There was also, eventually, Terra Obscura... Loved every single book of the ABC line; it was fun, entertaining, deceptively subversive and everything that is great about adventure stories, with healthy doses of humor. The antithesis of "grim & gritty."

From a 1972 Kinney (corporate parent of DC Comics) in-house publication, art by Carmine Infantino. (posted online by Paul Kupperberg) Seems to me the comic industry itself forgot this lesson in the 80s and 90s by focusing on long term fans and collectors and is paying the price now as readership has dwindled... -M
