Listened to a lot of Anne Murray this weekend. I've always liked "I Just Fall In Love Again". My parents had it on vinyl. But I listened to a lot more of her songs and I think this is one of my favorites. Though I like anything she sings, I think. She has a very beautiful voice.

Started listening to seasonal music. This comp has some great hard-to-find tracks...

Been on a PPL kick lately. I've always preferred the first three albums, never really cared for the Vince Gill era PPL of the '80's, but I love Craig Fuller's vocals and songwriting on the early stuff. Hard to believe that this band was from Ohio... not really known as a hotbed of country rock, but I love me some PPL.
However, I will say that their last studio album from 2006 captures a lot of the early sound, mainly because Fuller came back to write and record for that album...

Big Pure Prairie League fan here, tartanphantom. For me it really is all about those first two albums though, when Craig Fuller was in the band. Those two records are just amazingly good country rock. Fuller was such a special songwriter. They should've been much more successful. Are you familiar with Fuller's later band American Flyer? It was a bit of a supergroup, with Doug Yule (ex Velvet Underground), Eric Kaz (ex Blues Magoos), and Steve Katz (ex Blood, Sweat and Tears) -- and their first album was produced by George Martin! They're not as good as the PPL, but if you like Fuller's songwriting you'll find plenty to enjoy on their albums.

In fact, your response prompted me to pull my original vinyl copy and spin it this morning while working. The second album is also around here somewhere...

I'm listening to the It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown soundtrack. Love me some Vince Guaraldi.

Part of my Halloween list:

Part of my Halloween list: Add these to your list if you haven't already--- this stuff is right up my alley... I've got buckets of oddball comp collections and Bear Family stuff, so putting together a Halloween list can be rather daunting when cherry-picking the good stuff.
And one of my all-time favorites-- this is the '69 remake version, but I like the original version as well.

Well, my Spotify Halloween list has 185 songs on it, including all of those, with 75% from between '55 and '65 or so. I started looking for this stuff in the early 90s when I discovered a local radio show did an annual Halloween thing. Bought some, downloaded and burned plenty more, ending up w/ 12-15 CDs worth. Now i just stream everything.
But those two comps on the Buffalo Bop label, Horror Hop and Monster Bop were eye-openers for me.

Yeah, I've got a bunch of the Buffalo Bop stuff as well, including those two discs. I was heavy into garage comps in the mid-90's to early 00's, as I have almost the entire Pebbles collection, as well as most volumes of Gravel, Malamondo, Mayhem & Psychosis, Nuggets, Quagmire, and Teenage Shutdown, and Twisted Tales from the Vinyl Wasteland series. On top of that, I've got a lot of localized and regional garage comps from Texas, the midwest, northwest, New England, etc.
Did I mention that I like obscure garage stuff?

The new Duran Duran album "Future Past"
No one, included the band, ever thought they'd still be around after 40 YEARS but they're still going strong.
