The founder of ECCC has started a Kickstarter to produce a replica of the old spinner racks many of us used to buy comics off of when we were kids.
Just a few days into the campaign and it's already doubled it's initial pledge goal.

I saw that. It's in response to Diamond selling Spinner Racks through retailers. Unless you are an early bird backer though, the Kickstarter will cost you more than the ones through Diamond (which are $299), but the initial allotment from Diamond sold out and they are waiting for a second shipment to arrive. The Diamond Spinners lack the replica placards on top as well... -M

Are the Diamond ones available to the general public or just to retailers? I thought it was a retailer-only item.

Diamond doesn't sell direct to the public, so you have to order then through your retailer, but if your retailer is willing to order it and sell it to you, it's available. The $299 price is the retail price not the wholesale price to retailers (though there's not much of a mark up if I understand it). The owner of my local shop told me if I wanted one, he would order it for me. -M

How do you bring something back that never went away? Sure they're not everywhere like they used to be...but they still exist and can be easily purchased online and through various storage and display catalogs all over.
