I remember when we got a second TV to watch while eating. A small B & W set.
TV in the kitchen:
We had a portable black & white much like that one that spent most of its time in my room. I watched tons of old movies on it late on Friday and Saturday nights. Love that it has a UHF antenna and the rabbit ears.

Bell Bottom JeansDuring my High School Years and a single year in College and just about the 80's begins ... I wore Bell Bottom Jeans similar to the guy that's wearing the Green One in the picture above. They were hip and cool for awhile and I find them not so functionable and fashionable when the 80s rolled along ... its may not be true in your area and the girls wore them more than the guys and they even wore them in the 80s and stop abruptly at some point of time that I can't remember. Anyway, have anyone has any experiences wearing them too?

You need some "groovy" platform shoes to wear with those bellbottoms @mechagodzilla :

Ugh; hated bellbottoms. Imagine my chagrin on my first midshipman training cruise, when we wore enlisted uniform. At least the Navy had a purpose: bellbottoms allowed you to remove your trousers over your boots, to turn them into a flotation device, for water survival. You'd want to keep your boots on for protection (mostly against things like coral or debris). Still, the Navy Times newspaper would always have a letter from some sailor, lamenting how the uniform made them look like a kid and a response from some old vet about how it was good enough for them at Guadalcanal then it was good enough for today's sailors.

This thread reminds me of how old (opps I'm young on this forum) or how young a lot of people are, that they're surprised I still have 3 "standard" TV's and a VCR that I actively still use. Also this ... www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-last-company-to-make-vcr-20160722-story.html ... so I guess when my VCR breaks now, it's off to ebay or amazon for a used one, as they are so ridiculously cheap that I'd be better off to buy one then try and converts my VCR collection to DVD. Edit: To me, bellbottoms are sexy on gals. Wouldn't catch me dead wearing most of 70's men's fashion, had I been older at the time.

I agree with you on two things ... having a good VCR (I'm surprised that you have one that works) player can be helpful to convert your VHS tapes to DVD! and ... bellbottoms looks better on gals than guys!

Bell-bottom pants was 70's must have for the groovy teen set. Hell even the Brady kids wore them so you knew they were the coolest thing going (HAHAHA) in style. I had 2 pairs of bell-bottoms: one blue jean and one white slacks. And every guy my age at the time had at least one pair of platform shoes. Never just a pair of black dress, had to be two toned or camel/tan. Of course KISS the rock group wore the ULTIMATE platform shoes and were the envy of us all with the addition of sequins and make-up!

Both glad and a little sad to have missed the 70’s.

Both glad and a little sad to have missed the 70’s. The 70s was my favorite decade because of Wonder Woman, Charlie's Angels, my High (Graduated in 78) School, and all that. It was a fun decade for me and traveling around the USA during the Bicentennial Year too.
