Anyone watch Dave's My Next Guest Needs No Introduction? My wife and I watched both the Obama interview and the current one with George Clooney (as well as his parents) and we enjoyed them immensely. Dave is still the same wise-ass, at times; but, there is a real poignancy to them. Dave seems very reflective in these, like he really wants to do something that he feels is important with them. With the Obama one he focused heavily on the Civil Rights marches that would ultimately lead to Obama as president and the Clooney one focuses heavily on his and his wife and family's work on international human rights. It was different, yet very engaging. It's certainly not hardball questioning and the subjects are in sympathetic venues; but, it is interesting to see Dave do something with a more serious intent. March will feature Malala Yousafzai, the youngest winner of the Nobel peace prize. Dave may be treading on Oprah territory; but, he does it in his own, Dave-fashion. nick-caputo.blogspot.com/2017/01/appreciating-don-heck.htmlNo Top Ten Lists, no Stupid Pet Tricks; just Dave in conversation with someone, cracking jokes, but discussing important things. Dave brings up his son, Harry, in both interviews and you have a sense that this is sort of something for him, about what is important in his life. Definitely not what you would expect.

During this political chaos, I have sorely missed Letterman's perspective.
I've watched both episodes so far and both have been hugely satisfying, entertaining, and informative. No pranks, no stunts, no band, just Dave and his guest discussing a variety of subjects. I love how there's some give-and-take with Dave too; he's always been notoriously private about his personal life and hearing snippets of his past or his time with his son Harry are always engaging.
For years on late night, Dave always came off/acted as being something like a dunce but he's smarter than most people would give him credit for, it's still evident here throughout. And the beard rocks!
