Superman Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man was a great event that drove many a comic fan crazy with anticipation the moment the ads ran (*raises hand*). This splash was just one of many great layouts from the special.

This entire period of ASM was full of great splash pages and work that was worthy of--or actually used as licensing art. Unforgettable work.

Superman I had two copies of this book. One to read & one I spent hours tracing the art over a light box trying to learn how to draw comics. It kept me focused for hours. Can I draw? Stuff like the Flintstones, yes. Super-heroes, no.

tarkintino & @md62 ... I was surprised for anyone not posting it and it's a classic for the ages. I have copy of that book and I'm keeping it as long as I can. That event was a milestone of milestones and I was stunned to learn that DC and Marvel joined forces to create this masterpiece ... I'm still in awe of that "Crossover Event" ...

This one has an example of the "hidden signature" of Tony Mortellaro, the Marvel production artist who's credited with inking this along with John Romita. On the left-hand side about halfway down the page, you see a portion of a billboard; the letters are just visible: NDS ARO If you could see the whole thing, it would say "Backgrounds by Mortellaro". He stuck this kind of quasi-signature into a lot of Spider-Man pages, because he did background inking for John Romita a lot. PS - I just noticed that Artie Simek misspelled Tony's name in the credits. No wonder Tony put his own name into the comics - it was the only way to get it right!

@mechagodzilla , what comic is that second JSA page from? Looks similar to Paul Smith's work on "The Golden Age."
