Wow, when I think of Perez, I think of his early 80s work with Avengers and New Teen Titans etc. He had an unmistakable style then. I've never seen him look so Kirby, or perhaps Sal Buscema, as he does in this FF page. Marvel really did have a house style! And I was looking last night in Evanier's "Kirby, King of Comics" book at the samples of how Kirby himself was redrawn by others to conform to Curt Swan's style when Kirby first came to DC around 1970. Marvel made an effort to have the look of the FF comic look the same by using Joe Sinnott with most the artists that Followed Kirby. Well, Rich Buckler was one of the few FF artists who was really trying to mirror Kirby, albeit in a more modern style. Post Kirby, obviously Romita and John Buscema were so distinctive/strong that no attempt was made to really "Kirby-up" their work. Regarding Perez, during his Marvel years, the inker who brought out the best in his work was Klaus Janson--an inker flexible enough to lessen certain "overboard" tendencies (e.g. thick bodies which was a hallmark of much of his Marvel work), while bringing out the power in the Perez detailed pencils, as seen in this page from Logan's Run #2 (February, 1977):

Yes it is heavy Janson inks but I still see George Perez coming through.I see the opposite Icctrombone. I can see Perez clearly in the layout/positioning and styling of the page especially in the way the woman's body is placed. Also in the individual faces/hands of the woman and Francis. Also the traditional Perez intricate rubble/background that so few were willing to draw back in the day but which George always included.

An interesting aspect of these is the editorial choice to use the splash as the first narrative/story panel (Marvel) or to highlight a key scene of the story (most DC through the Silver Age). One outlier is Steve Ditko, whose Spider-Man splashes were often thematic/symbolic and not necessarily a literal scene from the story. (Something I'd wager he copped from Eisner and Meskin.)
