aka The Jinx Thread So we have a 'RIP' thread for those who have passed on and I'm sure I'm not the only one to learn of someone's death and think "that person was still alive?!" With that in mind, who are you surprised to find out is still around? I don't mean people like Keith Richards, but people who you just assumed had died either due to age, the fact that you imagine you would have heard something from/about them in recent years if they were still around, or just circumstances? Here are some of mine (as of December 25, 2017): 1. Jim Leavelle He's the guy in the tan suit (and also the guy holding the photo) 2. This turtle The photograph on the left was taken in 1902 when this fella was already adult size. It's believed that this turtle - named Jonathan - was born in 1832 making him 70 years old in this picture from the Victorian era. 1832! Abe Lincoln would have been a 23 year old kid when he was born! Unbelievable!

Chuck Yeager 94 and a living legend. Rose Marie 94 I don't know if I knew about Chuck Yeager still being around and kicking but I did know about Rose Marie. What I didn't know until recently is the fact that she may have met Al Capone. I say "may have" because by her recollection, the meeting would have taken place when she was 10 in 1933. This wouldn't have been possible since Capone was already in prison at that time, but she may just be getting the date wrong and the meeting could have occurred a few years prior. Anyhow, I know her through an episode of The Monkees where she plays a surrogate mother to the group (whose members are now in their 70's). Interestingly, Angela Lansbury is still around and is yet old enough to have played Elvis' mother in Blue Hawaii (though she was only 10 years older than The King).

Stan Lee94, in Manhattan, New York ... Kicking alive and still do cameos for Marvel Films! Larry Storch94, in New York City, Corporal Agarn of F-Troop is still alive! Eva Marie Saint93, North by Northwest Star is still with us, lives in Newark, NJ North by Northwest is my favorite Hitchcock film so thanks for drawing my attention to this. Stan Lee isn't a surprise but it's always nice to reminded that he's still Stan Leeing it up. I know Larry Storch mostly through his work on the tv series The Ghost Busters (inspiration for the films) where he re-teamed with Forrest Tucker. You might want to check that show out if you haven't already Mecha! He also voiced The Joker on the 1960's Batman cartoon.

Yeager is definitely one I could have sworn was gone, he's just one of those legends of yesteryear that you just assume is gone for good.

The end credits list the voice actors as a group; but, Ted Knight definitely voices the Joker in at least a few of the cartoons, as well as the Penguin and Riddler. Storch may have come on for some; I haven't watched all of them in a while. I can't recall if Storch or Lenny Weinrib voiced the Joker in the New Adv. of Batman, in 1977. I believe he did voice the Joker in the New Scooby Doo Movies appearances. I need to watch those cartoons again. Maybe Storch approximated Knight enough I just blended them together. EDIT-I just listened to a compilation of spots and Ted Knight is voicing the Joker on The Batman/Superman Hour, while Storch is doing the role on the New Scooby Doo Movies. Lennie Weinrib is voicing the Joker on the New Adv. of Batman. Storch voiced several characters (including Mr. Whoopee) on Tennessee Tuxedo and several of the Groovie Goolies. He also did a lot of voicework in the 70s and 80s.

Larry Storch will always be Spenser of the 1970s Ghost Busters to me. And by the way, that show wasn't an inspiration for the film at all; back in high school, I remember thinking that the movie was going to be based on the Saturday morning show, but alas. (Still think it would have been hilarious to have a beanie-wearing gorilla participating in the fight against the supernatural.)
And speaking of Tracy the Gorilla, his "trainer," Bob Burns, is also still around (although a bit younger than the norm for this thread, as he's 'only' in his early '80s).

And speaking of Tracy the Gorilla, his "trainer," Bob Burns, is also still around (although a bit younger than the norm for this thread, as he's 'only' in his early '80s). Burns mentioned that Dan Aykroyd admitted in an interview somewhere that the series was an influence on his film and as such, he'd probably have to send them some money which he eventually did. "Have to" might be an overstatement since he seemed quite jovial about it in the interview and had a "we made so much money on the film that I'd like to do it as a thank you if nothing else" attitude. Anyhoo, it might interest you to know that Bob Burns is currently working on a book about The Ghost Busters series according to www.tapatalk.com/groups/monsterkidclassichorrorforum/bob-burns-and-the-ghost-busters-t68521.htmlAnd Bob Burns has had a life I'd kill to have had though he seems like such a nice guy that I can't feel the least bit envious of him. He got to pal around with Glenn Strange; attend a party with Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney Jr, and Elsa Lanchester where his memory of a little known TV appearance of Chaney that the actor was immensely proud of made Chaney embrace him; was gifted with Larry Talbot's cane from The Wolf Man and some of the Frankenstein Monster head pieces and boots because of how friendly he was; was a neighbour of Roy Barcroft as a kid and got hang around on the set of The Purple Monster Strikes; got to play Tracey; etc, etc.

Clint Eastwood As a fan of classic horror films, I always get a kick out of recalling that Eastwood made his screen debut in the sequel to The Creature From the Black Lagoon.

Blink and you miss Eastwood and Tom "Billy Jack" Laughlin in The Lafayette Escadrille, with Tab Hunter. You can catch Eastwood (and hear him) during a baseball game scene.
