Aquaman:
Abnett has been writing one of the best runs on Aquaman with DC Rebirth. It has been a consistently well written book showcasing Arthur & Mera as a power couple in the DCU. However when Stjepan Sejic came on as artist with #25 this book went to super star status IMO. Sejic's lush art captured the undersea setting with a gorgeous painted quality. As a result I feel Abnett became re-energized & has been telling a classic story of Aquaman being removed from the throne.
Daredevil:
Soule has made his mark on this character. He started out weak IMO but man once he was on the title for a year he has been telling classic stories that will be among DD's best stories. His current storyline with Fisk looks to be one of the best DD/Kingpin matchups. Not only that but he has given us back Matt Murdock as an interesting character. I hate that modern comics have abandoned secret ID's. This take on DD is a great argument that secret ID's can still be a viable & entertaining part of comics.
X-O Manowar:
Wow this is the way you re-launch a title. Kindt has breathed new life into Aric. Relocated to the planet Gorin, wanting nothing but a simple life as a farmer. He is pulled into the planet's politics reluctantly & rises to become the planet's Emperor. Kindt tells a compelling story month after month with some of the best art coming from different artists. An awesome mash up of different genres makes this one of the best books out there right now.
Archie:
If you would told me 2 years ago that one of my favorite titles every month would be an updated Archie title I would have thought you were crazy. Waid has created a stellar run on Archie for 2 years (& counting). This is the Archie we all know & love but updated with a modern eye. Paired with various artists this book has been consistent at delivering a high quality story every month.

My Honorable Mentions:
From DC: Superman, Super Sons, Nightwing. I really enjoy these titles but all 3 hit some rough patches with lackluster arcs in 2017. When they are good they are awesome but they lacked consistency.
From Marvel: Thor, Spectacular Spider-Man. Thor is being written as one long epic tale so some of the individual issues suffer as a result IMO. SSM has been great but I'm not sure if I like were it is going currently.
Titles that I think will be great in 2018:
Captain America by Waid & Samnee. So far there has been only 2 issue but they were outstanding. Fighting American. The first 3 issues have been top notch & I look forward to more next year.

My favorite books this year have been(in no particular order) Jason Aaron's Mighty Thor, Jeff Lemire's Black Hammer, Beowulf by Santiago García, Tomasi’s Super Sons Jeff Parker's Future Quest, Hellboy: Into the Silent Sea by Mike Mignola and Gary Gianni, Baltimore: The Red Kingdom by Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden, Superman by Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason, and Rebels by Brian Woods.
And as Michael James mentioned I'd also give an honerable mention to Chris Samnee's and Mark Waid's Captain America; it's only two issues in but it's already been a blast.

Being primarily a trade reader I'm usually about six months behind.
Definite highlights of 2017...the second half of The Flintstones. Black Hammer. Bug! The Adventures of the Forager. Shirtless Bear Fighter.

Yeah I am mostly reading in trade too, but favorites I have gotten include The Wildstorm, Injection, Future Quest, Descender, Bug! The Adventures of Forager and Terry Moore's Motor Girl (the last 2 are among the few I am reading in singles).
Honorable mention of Black Panther by Ta-Nehisi Coates and what I have read of the Kamandi Challenge, Black Hammer and the American Gods adaptation by P Craig Russell. I am enjoying all of them but am way behind and haven't read much of them yet (I read the first year of Coates BP and the first few from this year, and a few issues of each of the others). I will also mention the rest of the Young Animal line which I read via Hoopla.

Aquaman is the only book on my list, as the only other book I read all year, Doctor Strange, was hit or miss (and missed more than it hit, IMO).
Heading into 2018, I'm high on the prospects for two series that just started. Captain America has begun strong, although I'm less enthralled with the second issue than other folks around here, and Samnee's art is going to take A LOT of getting used to. The other book is Moon Knight, which seems to have an interesting direction and appears to have finally created a worthy opponent for MK.

Favorites for 2017:
Jughead: I hate that the title is on hiatus, cancelled, or whatever is going on. The dialogue, the writing, the art--all perfect
Archie and Your Pal Archie: I never would have thought I would be enjoying Archie again at my age. I enjoy the more serious title and the lighter one as well. It makes me happy when these arrive each month.
Titans: Despite the occasional issue that is a misstep, I do enjoy this title. Very nice to see the early 70s line up together again and in (for the most part, capable hands).
Superman and Action: I agree these have been hit or miss, but for the most part I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Action and Superman this year. Looking forward to Action 1000 next year!

Sad to say this, I don't have one anymore and I don't have a pull list and been reading DC Archives and Marvel Masterworks for the time being.

I think only three issues of Southern Bastards came out in 2017. Which is sad because it may be my favorite current comic.
