Archie #26. Written by Mark Waid. Art and Cover by Audrey Mok. Archie is falling for Betty but he has competition...Dilton! Also Veronica won't stand in Archie's way to preserve her friendship with Betty. Betty continues physical therapy as she recovers. Another winner by Waid in the New Riverdale. Mok's art is beautiful for this series. 9/10.

Captain America #696. Script by Mark Waid. Art & cover by Chris Samnee. Another issue by Waid that is amazing. Cap continues his "quest" across America getting in touch with small town America & runs into the new Swordsman. Great fight scenes. Cap saves the town. Another feel good issue that washes away the memories of Hydra Cap. Samnee's art is beautiful at depicting normal people. Love Captain America again! 9/10.

Nightwing #34. Written by Tim Seeley. Art & Cover by Javi Fernandez. The last issue by this creative team. Next issue Sam Humphries and Bernard Chang take over. The conclusion of Raptor. Hopefully this is the last time we see this villain. Seeley does up a decent job wrapping up all his ongoing plots & leaving the book with a status quo that Humphries can jump right into without having to tie anything up. I felt Seeley had a rough start but had a long stretch where his Nightwing was awesome. This last arc wasn't my favorite but he had a decent conclusion. The art by Fernandez has been great showing Dick's acrobatic skills. 6/10 for this issue. 8/10 for the whole run of 34 issues.

Superman #36. Written by Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason. Art by Doug Mahnke and Jaime Mendoza. Cover by Patrick Gleason. The conclusion of the Kents & Lex on Akopolips. The ending was predictable but the team did a great job telling the story. I also wanted to comment on DC's new cover dress. They have dropped the Rebirth banner. It's a nice design but I will miss the title of the story arc at the top. 7/10.

Jetsons #2 (of 6). Written by Jimmy Palmiotti. Art by Pier Brito. Cover by Amanda Conner. Disaster is imminent for the Earth in this take on the Jetsons. It is definitely not the light hearted cartoon you remember. But so far this title has been interesting although not as good as the recent Flintstones series. It's hard to judge since this part 2 of an overall 6 part story. 6/10.

Darth Vader #9Written by Charles Soule Art by Giuseppe Camuncoli Summary: Darth Vader finally confronts Jedi Master Jocasta Nu, and she learns an important secret about the Sith lord. Plot: Soule has really pulled his run out of the fire after a dull start; as the Dying Light continues to be a fun ride. While the on going quest of Jocasta Nu continues to be fun as it unfolds, and the action was good the pacing of this issue was a bit sluggish. Rather than stretching out the fight scene and the brief encounter with Vader into a whole issue I really feel like this could have been much better if it were condensed down to like 6 pages and included more character interactions. That said, I enjoyed the fact that Jocasta has learned that Vader is Anakin Skywalker; although it just further proves that she does not survive this encounter the out come should prove to be exciting. Art: Camuncoli proves to be fantastic with the fight scenes in this issue, the motion feels real and there is weight to the blows the combatants are landing. Grade:7/10

DC Holiday Special Written and Illustrated by DC's best Summary: A smattering of holiday themed stories starring DC's greatest heroes. Plot/Art: I'm always a big fan of these holiday specials, they are often a mixed bag(and this one is no different) but they are always fun. Although there are some clunkers like the Green Arrow story and Slade Wilson's Christmas, and the framing story with Clark and Constantine at Bippo's bar made no sense this really featured some serious stand out stories. I think my all time favorite here was the Sgt. Rock story by Tom King with art by Francavilla; it was a haunting WWII tale that was deeply character driven and of course with Francavilla on board you know the art is going to be top notch, I wish this was a full length feature or an ongoing as this pair was fantastic. I also enjoyed the Max Landis and Francis Manapul, it was a simplistic story about Superman helping to turn around a criminal's life, but man Manapul's bright art was stunning; he needs to be on Superman stat! Grade:8/10

Archie #26 by Mark Waid and Audrey Mok: Teen drama at its finest! I echo Michael James's review: another winner! I loved the opening sequence with Veronica slamming the door and her mother knew right away it was an Archie problem. Lots of very cool visuals in this issue from Moose and the scooter to Toni assisting Dilton from afar. Nice to see Jason Blossom appear. I cannot help but cheer for Dilton, however I believe he will lose out due to the eternal Archie/Betty/Veronica triangle. 10/10
Superman #36: Lois shines in the conclusion of this story. I loved how she told off and (beat) the Fury who was giving Lois static about being a wife and mother. I felt like I was reading the spunky no nonsense Lois of old. Superman does what he does best in this story--inspire people to be their best. Looks like the Luthor/Superman dynamic is back to being true enemies. 7/10

TMNT #77Written by Tom Waltz Art by Damian Couceiro Summary: The Turtles track down the Triceratons after their confrontation with Splinter. Plot: While I'm enjoying the general thrust of Waltz's Triceraton plot, and the sympathy he bestows up on them this is yet another book that feels overly decompressed. The Triceratons fall to the foot, the turtles find them and Splinter has a conversation with Agent Bishop...and that's the whole issue. Twenty two pages is a decent amount of space and you can get a lot of storytelling done in that time and yet all we get are three short scenes that are ballooned out to take up a whole issue when the same amount of story easily could have been contained in 6-9 pages with out losing anything and then the issue would have felt so much more fulfilling. Art: Couceiro's Turtles look great, and I love how he makes each Triceraton look unique, but man just look at that cover! It's just screams Frank Miller which is perfect for a book that started it's life as a parody of Frank's work. Grade:6/10

Gravediggers Union #2Written by Wes Craig Art by Toby Cypress Summary: Cole and the gang go consult a witch, against the wishes of their superiors, and find that the danger is greater than they thought. Plot: Craig continues to deepen the mythology of his world as we see not only the relationship between the Gravediggers and the Witches but also a new cult that worships the old gods. It's a deeply layered world that feels rich and organic and its a briskly paced; the back and forth conversation between Cole and the Witch easily could have been dull and the transitions to The Black Temple and its chosen could have come off as confusing but it all connected beautifully. The end result is incredibly engaging despite lacking any action as it sets up the world and makes you really care about the characters while also setting up what’s to come with a rather superb cliffhanger. Art: Now the story itself is good but it’s the art by Toby Cypress that really makes this a must own book. From Ortiz to Haley and the mysterious all powerful cult there’s a lot of deeply expressive characters in this cast. As the chaotic but consistent and controlled line work highlights their features in the right way. The display just syncs together effortlessly when the colors by Niko Guardia enter the fray, so much so that I’m pressed to say that you should buy this comic for the pictures alone. Grade:10/10

It's a pretty great book, the coloring took me a little to get used to( I'm still not sure what the red mist is supposed to be) but otherwise it's a lo of fun.

Spirits of Vengeance #3written by Victor Gischler art by David Baldeon Summary: The Team's all together at last...but now they've lost the silver bullet and the villains can now forge their weapon. Plot: I really, really, really wanted to like this book but it's just continued to disappoint me at every step. In the first two issues we barely learned what the threat was and we never actually saw the team come together and then here we get the final member of the gang but like the meet up with Blade we never actually get to see why she joins up. At this point it feels like we've missed two issues here as there seems to be all kind of information missing which is just frustrating. Art: Baldeon's art was the only reason why I went for a third issue but with the plot sucking as bad as it has the awesome art just isn't enough to keep me locked in. It's a real shame, this guy deserved a better story to to pair his art with. Grade:4/10
