Bendis at DC I am not happy with this. The only thing he wrote that I liked was Ultimate Spider-Man. Not a fan of his style of writing. Hopefully he won't be placed on any titles I currently read or (shudder) JSA....

It will be a big title. DC wouldn't bring him over to write secondary characters. He'll probably get 2 or 3 books.

Wow. This is a shocker. It's like DC getting Kirby !

Never cared for any of his Big 2 stuff with the exception of his Marvel Knights Daredevil run which was excellent.
Just don’t get the appeal of the guy

Interesting. I have always preferred his creator-owned stuff (Torso, Fire, Powers, United States of Murder, Inc., etc.) to his work-for-hire stuff, so I am interested to see if that stays with Icon or goes elsewhere. I have liked some of his work-for-hire stuff and other stuff not so much, so I am curious what books he will get (you know it will be 4 or 5 to keep his workload up).
I wouldn't mind seeing him team with Alex Maleev again on a Question book (either Rene or Vic). He'l probably launch a new book coming out of Metal (like the Terrifics book is), get something from the Bat-office (whether Batman or an offshoot book like Birds of Prey) and one of two others. It'll be interesting to see what books and who his collaborators are over at DC. I'll be in wait and see mode on anything, but it is an interesting move and makes me wonder what is happening behind the curtains that led to the decision.

With Geoff Johns focusing more on the live action productions, I wonder if this is part of a larger move to transition him over into an architect-type of role like he had at Marvel.

Liked his Alias, DD, and Moon Knight for Marvel. The rest, for me, fell somewhere between "meh" and "for the love of all that's holy, please stop".
Now he's DC's asset/problem, and as long as he stays far away from Aquaman, I'm fine with this.

Absolutely nothing Bendis has done at Marvel struck me as terrible or horrendous and yet neither was any of the things he did make me want to follow him or buy his series. Only good thing which comes to mind is that he helped reunite Powerman and Iron Fist as friends/team-mates. Let him play in DC, can't be much worse than some other writers have done. Allow him to play with all the secondary characters he wants to and give him Metal Men where his character changes can at least be plausible in they are "programmed personalities" and acting differently if they aren't written properly. With all the changes for Swamp Thing over the years maybe Bendis might be able to do something new there. Hawkman has been a big pigeon coop of a mess for a long time so let him recreate Thanagar/Hawk history to his hears content.
I just can't get excited or care all that much about his move. There i said it.

I'm guessing: One book will be a high profile character like Superman or Batman. Another title will be a team book like Justice League.
Other options: A re-launch of a title like Justice Society/Legion of Super Heroes/Shazam! And/or a lower tier character that he wants to write/revamp.

Very, very happy to get him far away from Iron Man . I'd be really interesting to see what he did with Batman... could even be good. I shutter to picture what him doing something like JSA or Legion would be like. Maybe he'll do something to follow up Doomsday clock?

There is some speculation trying to connect some dots-Scott Snyder mentioned there are plans for a Zatanna series in the works and the one time Bendis answered what he would like to do at DC (several years ago) he answered Zatanna, so people like Bleeding Cool are trying to tie it together to speculate the Zatanna series will be BMB's first at DC.
Take it with a grain of salt, but it's funny to watch people's reactions, some cheer he is leaving Marvel, some are wringing their hands he might work on their favorite DC property, some are heartbroken he is leaving Marvel and guessing this means the end of characters like Jessica Jones in the spotlight, others are excited to see what he will do at DC-Superman and Legion get mentioned most often.
Speculators are also jumping on the the one Batman story in an issue of Batman Chronicles he did in 2000.
Some think this could lead to a reignition of the exclusivity wards between Marvel and DC and shake up the status quo. Others are speculating Bendis was leaving because of some major shake ups at Marvel involving licensing characters and cutting back on content creation (they may have read the Bendis/Geoff Darrow interview I linked where Bendis hinted something big was coming down the road that would shake up the industry and he had ideas he wanted to take to Marvel about how to change the industry), others want it to be an opportunity to get a non-Caucasian writer working on Mikes Morales, whatever it is, it's got a lot of people, fans and industry folk talking about a lot of different aspects of comics, which could be a good thing no matter what BMB ends up doing at DC.
I know my first reaction was what the hell, it's not April Fools Day, but the more I think about it, this could be the can of worms the industry needed to open to start shaking things up and maybe start making the kind of changes they need to make to evolve into a survivable entity int he current marketplace. One can only hope.

oh and someone mentioned Bendis doing something as part of the Vertigo relaunch, which would probably be the thing most likely to interest me.

He is far better on solo books than on team books so as long as he sticks with that, even with his aggravating writing ticks, I can manage that if he lands on a DC title that I currently read. If it's a brand-new title, well, have to wait-and-see about it.
Otherwise, I'm not sad in the least that he's finally leaving Marvel.

I know it's not a popular opinion round these parts, but I like Bendis's writing. I'll be sad to see him leave Jessica Jones and hope that it'll mean that the series will be ending (since I wouldn't want anyone but Bendis to write that series).
I have little or no interest in any modern DC title (save for Astro City and that doesn't count), so I won't be reading whatever it is that Bendis ends up writing there.

Talking out of my butt here, but thinking big, Rebirth was a 2 year initiative and we are well into the second year, what if BEndis was brought on to chart the direction/be the architect of what comes afterwards? I can see Bendis doing one or more books in the new DC line where creators retain a portion of ownership and that being one of the factors that drew him to coming to DC at this time. -M

I know it's not a popular opinion found these parts, but I like Bendis's writing. I have little or no interest in any modern DC title (save for Astro City and that doesn't count), so I won't be reading whatever it is that Bendis writes there. Bendis has written some stuff I dislike (some of it I really disliked), but he has written more that I have liked, especially if you include his creator-owned books. I get why some dislike him, but I am curious to see what he will do at DC, and more curious about how many of his cadre of artistic collaborators (Maleev, Pichelli, Deodato, Marquez, etc.) who continuously state how much they like working with him and would do so on any project he did will follow him over to DC. Most are freelancers, not under contract to Marvel beyond the current book they are working on, so can take whatever project they want. Deodato has a track record with DC and Maleev has done some work there too, and that might be another reason DC courted him, because of who else may follow him there. There's even speculation that Jonathan Hickman's tweet this afternoon reacting to the news using the students getting on their deks to recite O Captain, My Captain form Dead Poet's Society is a hint he will follow BMB to DC after much speculation his meeting with JimLEe earlier this year was to court him to DC. Hickman and BEndis have a strong working relationship form past collaborations. Scott Snyder has even said he and BMB might be working on something together, so that might be a transition between his run on Bats, which is coming to an end soon, and the launch of Bendis' run. Vegas needs to start a what titles will Bendis get pool -M
