I don't think we're going to move on anytime soon. Women feel empowered to step forward. Good for them. The thing I can't wrap my brain around is why? Lauer and others can have any 1000 women they want, why bother the 5 that don't want you ? Maybe because they really can't have any woman they want and thus bully the powerless. |

Or it's the thrill of conquest. There is no challenge in bedding someone who will spread her legs willingly, but to get it from someone who resists or isn't interested, now there's a game worth playing. Lauer has millions of dollars, the adoration of millions of fans, and probably more "things" than any ten of us put together. When one reaches the top and has everything one could possibly want, what is left to pursue but the unattainable? |

That's definitely something that a lot of people fail to understand about rape -- that it's not really about sexual attraction, it's about exerting power over someone else. However, with other forms of sexual assault and harassment, such as groping or other lewd, inappropriate behaviour, I'm not so sure. I think that there is very definitely a sexual component to the motivation behind that sort of act. |

These guys are all about the power of conquest and there is no challenge in the women that are attracted to them. |

I think that men who sexually harass/assault women in these workplace situations are not unlike peeping Toms, or the guys who do the upskirt photos in public, or install hidden cameras in bathrooms and dressing rooms. I think there's a component of sexual compulsion that is driven by attraction/arousal on some level. The difference between these guys and the guys in the news is one of power. The peeping Tom types are skulking in the shadows, doing what they do in a hidden fashion because they are afraid of what will happen if they do it openly. The men in positions are power, while hiding their behavior from the general public, are way more open about it within their little fiefdoms because they think their position makes them above accountability. And I think to an extent they were correct. With each of these accusations, there's a lot of talk about how people within the immediate circles had an idea that something inappropriate might be going on but didn't say anything. As i posted previously, it's only when people are going public with it that everyone else is caving in. |

I'm pretty sure there will be more ... as the tip of the iceberg gets larger and larger each passing days of "certain celebrities" gets "targeted" and "blamed for" ... for these allegations.
