Tynion highlights one of the main distinctions about Tim that I love, that he is scary smart, perhaps even smarter than Bruce. That's been his edge, his advantage and how Tynion shows how that edge makes Tim the best possible successor to the cowl, above the others, against his own personal desires, is part of what makes this arc so strong. I'm also excited over the sighting of Conner. Their friendship has been one aspect of DCU that I've sorely missed for quite awhile now. The idea that Tim has no clue whatsoever to whom his future self is referring raises the tragic level of this drama.
For me, along with the Superman books and the Button arc, this story has been one of the best Rebirth arcs yet. First I love your Capt Marvel avatar! Second IMO each of the Robins is better than Bruce in one or two areas. Dick is better balanced socially & IMO is a better athlete than Bruce. Tim is definitely smarter than Bruce & has the most desire to lead a normal life. Damian is the probably the best fighter & the most dedicated to being a hero. Jason is the most ruthless & able to get things done. What makes Bruce great is his ability to be almost the best in multiple areas.

Always enjoyed the friendship between Tim and Conner (way much more than Damien and Jon). A buddy of mine has been telling me to pick up Detective. Great review and I may have to get this issue.

It's by 'Doc' Shaner who would be a complete joy to behold on a new monthly Shazam title. I would agree with most of your observations here and really, that's how Tynion demonstrates the difference between them and why Tim ultimately took up the cowl. For what may make each the most likely candidate doesn't always work out for the best.

Were there other stories that were as good that I missed since Tim "died"? Hmmm, depends. How much do you like Azrael? I love Azrael so the last major arc had Tynion focusing on Jean-Paul and like this current arc, it's about restoring legacy elements into the Nu52 mythos. So you had Jean-Paul dealing with the Order's brain-washing and programming along with their (I think) Suit of Sorrows armor. I have yet to read all of the previous Azrael title so I'm still a tad unclear on that nature but I thought Tynion did a similar good job in 'restoring' the character. Plus, there was a nice sub-plot featuring Bruce and Zatanna. In his hunt for Tim, Bruce was driven to extreme measures and wanted to consult a powerful magical item that's held by Zatanna. She revealed the existence of this item and it's purpose years ago when Bruce was studying under her father's tutelage. There's hints of a potential relationship between the two back then (definitely infatuation on her part) and it was a nice series of flashbacks that showed a younger, perhaps more vulnerable Bruce who may be smitten but is still highly focused on his goal and training. Well done all around.

Agreed. I think they've done very well in establishing and growing Jon as a character but I would love to see Conner back.

Haven't read everything this week but thoroughly enjoyed Black Panther 166 and Silver Surfer 14 from Marvel, both potentially the best I've read of the current volumes. Also enjoyed the new X-O Manowar,as well as Valiant's Eternity 1, but my highlight this week has been Turok 3. Loving the direction, writing and art so hopefully it will be around for a while.

I've been very critical of Rebirth Detective Comics, so to be fair, I should jump in and mention that I'm liking the current storyline a lot better than most of the previous issues since Rebirth started.
I still cringe when I see Clayface though.
And "A Lonely Place of Living" is the kind of title that would have made me not buy it if I didn't automatically pick up Detective every month two weeks.

I picked it up to get into Super Sons of Tomorrow and it was a pretty good story. I'm going to need to track down more issues.
