Part of why I love this story is because of the "disembodied heads" theme. I love that kind of thing (also I love disembodied hands and evil ventriloquist dolls). There should be more horror movies about heads. We all know about "The Brain that Wouldn't Die." There's also a German movie called "The Head" that is some creepy, chaotic, goofy fun. But where is the "Citizen Kane" of the "disembodied head" movies? Hasn't the world waited long enough? I love those movies myself, along with their close cousin the living brain movie, of which one has eluded me for years -- The description on Amazon, where I'm too cheap to pay $8.99 for a burned disc (note to self: poke around YouTube for tthis; haven't done so in quite awhile), is as follows -- (1962) Peter Van Eyck, Bernard Lee. The brain of a dead man is kept alive scientifically. It then develops a terrific mental force that allows it to take control of the scientist responsible for keeping it alive. From 16mm.
Sounds irresistible to me.

I don't know how to link with my phone, but that is on YouTube. If you search The Brain 1962 it should be the first result.

There's also this 1961 Mexican effort (title translates as "The Living Head"), but AFAICT the YouTube versions have French subtitles only ...
There's a two-fer DVD (with The Living Coffin) on Netflix, but it's in their "Unavailable" queue.

I love Mexican horror movies from this era. Like "La maladicion de la lorona" or "El baron del terror."
I'll have to check this out eventually.

3. The Darkhold SagaPicking up the pieces from the cancelled Tomb of Dracula series, this proto-event crossed over into several titles. The plot was simple: Dracula wanted to get his hands on the Darkhold, while Dr. Strange, Blade and Hannibal King worked to stop him. Along the way, they were helped by the X-Men, the Avengers and Thor. In the end, it was Dr. Strange who got the Darkhold first, and used it to destroy not just Dracula, but all vampires. As far as horror stories go, it's pretty superhero-y, but the reverse applies as well - as far as superhero stories go, it's got a ton of cool horror elements. And it led to covers like this one, which would probably be enough for me anyway:

I love that Doc' Strange cover, especially because the artist gave Dracula his mustache.

He stole it back, it's probably why he was pissed at strange in the first place because before him Dracula was the owner of the world's baddest stache.
