What do you guys think.. excited? annoyed? I'm confused, myself... I feel like it's really just not a big thing to have these team ups.. they all happen on a semi-regular basis... so why an event?
I was planning on skipping it all together, but the solicit ties the Iron Man one directly to the story in Infamous Iron Man, so I'll probably get that. Also, do we really need Carol Danvers in two of them?

I'm currently buying just two regular MU books, those being CA: Steve Rogers and Doctor Strange, and I really have no interest in this event at all. For the most part, the world of new comics is dead to me, and another over-hyped, lackluster sales ploy isn't what's going to draw me back into the fold.

Not interested in Generations. More interested in the series afterwards.

Also, do we really need Carol Danvers in two of them? Yes, because like an overbearing parent who's hell bent on their child becoming a star, Marvel is adamant about Danvers becoming the next big thing (in lieu of Brock Lesnar) in comic-dom, even if Kamala Ms. Marvel already stole her appropriated Shazam-esque thunder I don't dislike Carol, but I really don't see how she's A-List material. To my knowledge, Captain Marvel was never a particularly prominent character in the Marvel universe, even when Mar-Vell was still around. Which is weird to think about given how prominent the Kree were and still are

That's exactly what it always feel like they're doing with her; kind of making her a Superman-esque prominent female character.
I have nothing against the character but no particular love for her either.
Generations, like most things Marvel, leaves me cold, though the latest hype from Axel has me wondering if they're not going to be inserting a lot of retroactive continuity as a way of giving us older fans more of the "true" Marvel universe we loved.
It feels like that's what they're ready to roll with : current Marvel and giving us the old school with retro stories, which I might actually try.

Are you sticking with Doctor Strange now Aaron's left? Is Hopeless the permanent new writer, or is he just doing the Secret Empire tie ins?

I have nothing against the character but no particular love for her either. The problem in my experiences of reading Marvel Comics is the fact that they never really have a prominent female character; Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel has never once gotten the recognition that she deserved and I felt that they need to make her more a A-Lister of which Batflunkie says that she isn't. I'm kind of sad when I read that and that's why many comic book readers don't like her and I do love the character of Captain Marvel and I wished that she needs to be more prominent and wildfire2099 had asked us do we need her in both places and many of my members at the Comic Book Store that I go to says "Yes" and that will propel her to more a rightful place in Marvel Universe and make the movie that coming out in 2019 more relevant and the answer to Wildfire2099 question is a respectfully "YES" and they need to put her in two places so that she can become a A-LIST material and that what I want from her and only her. I love Carol Danvers and that's why many of members are very high on GENERATIONS and that's why I'm hoping that this will make amends on Carol Danvers and with the movie coming out in 2019 it's will attracts more readers and that makes her a great Marvel Character. I know most of you here might disagree with me - that's fine with me and having said that ... I'm sad to read that you don't like her hondobrode and I just wished that Carol become a force in current Marvel Universe and I'm looking forward that movie in 2019. It feels like that's what they're ready to roll with : current Marvel and giving us the old school with retro stories, which I might actually try. I've might try this and I like the old school approach here and the retro stories too. I love retro stories.

As far as I know, Hopeless is the regular writer going forward, so I'll be sticking with the title for at least an arc or two to see how he handles the good Doctor.

It feels like that's what they're ready to roll with : current Marvel and giving us the old school with retro stories, which I might actually try. I couldn't care less about what a particular comic is about so long as the story itself reads well and is penned with some level of competency The main issue I have is that Marvel is hiring people who have no true background in comics to work on their books and whether that's good or bad thing I'm not sure. It will introduce new people who otherwise don't read comics to the books because a certain author is behind it and will inevitably invigorate a slumping title, or at least that's the theory Coates was the poster child for this and while the book did the foundation of Black Panther's legacy justice, it didn't have the same 'air' to it. What did he get wrong that Christopher Priest got so completely right?

Yeah, it'll be interesting how Rainbow Rowell works on Runaways... that COULD be a major chunk of new readers in the demo Marvel seems to be chasing (teenage/YA females).
As far as Marvel and female leads go, I've just always though Carol Danvers was boring...she's not even my favorite female Captain Marvel (I'll take Monica Rambeau any day) I'd much rather see Sue Richards, Storm, Kitty Pryde(actually, they ARE pushing her pretty nicely), and now Kamala Khan.

Exactly! Like I said, Carol isn't my particular cup of tea, but some people treat her like she's the only worthwhile female character in the Marvel U. I'd really like to see them do something with Medusa from the Inhumans, always found that character interesting even if I'm not really keen on the series other than on a purely conceptual basis

I quite like Carol too, well the first couple of volumes of her book in recent years. However since Secret Wars ended they seem o have shifted from what was making her a cult hit. She was a strong, successful woman having reasonably fun adventures. The art and stories were light, by which I mean upbeat, or cartoony, Lopez was a great fit, and I even find myself missing Kris Anka. Now though everything she is involved in is doom and gloom, big stakes, shes so serious and what made her a must read seems to be gone.

I agree that Marvel lacks a prominent, flagship female character like DC's Wonder Woman, but to me they got off on the wrong foot with Carol Danvers right from the start by making her superhero identity too derivative of Captain Marvel: the costume, the name, the powers. And they didn't really come up with a very compelling origin for her - somehow she was given Kree powers or something? Doesn't really capture the imagination.
To me, they keep making the same mistake over and over, trying to come up with a strong female lead by making Jane Foster the new Thor, and so on. Never going to work. The current Captain Marvel, or whatever she's called now, might be better known to fans than Mar-Vell, after all these years, but that doesn't seem to have made her the kind of "A-level" character they're looking for.
