Written by Mark Waid. Art and Cover by Pete Woods. This issue is a series of vignettes around Riverdale as the gang gets a phone call asking them to come to the hospital. Jughead at Pop's waiting tables to pay his bill. Raj at school on a Sunday running into Mr Weatherbee. Veronica getting a new car from her dad. Dilton & Mooses hanging out. Everyone is gathered at the hospital waiting for news on Betty. The police question Archie & Reggie about the drag race. The issue ends with Betty's heart stopping... Waid really walked a fine line making the vignette's lighthearted until the news of Betty. Then things turned serious. Interviews I have read with Waid state he wants to show how Betty is the heart & soul of Riverdale. Even more than Archie. Upcoming issues will explore this further. Woods' art really sells the story. It is cartoony enough to keep things light but has enough realism to nail the serious side of this story. 9/10.

Written by Dan Abnett. Art and Cover by Stjepan Sejic. Wow what a change in direction. We saw Aquaman stabbed by Turk last issue & left for dead. Rath is the new King of Atlantis & he is NOT a good king. We find Arthur in hiding in a ghetto of Atlantis (The Ninth Tride). He is using Batman's tactics to deal with evildoers. Meanwhile Mera is seen mourning his "death" with Tula back in Amnesty Bay until she gets a call from Vulko stating Arthur is still alive. Dolphin is introduced. And Aquaman makes his public appearance dispelling his supposed death. Rath is furious. Mera goes back to find Arthur. Arthur & Dolphin go on the run. Abnett again has made Aquaman one of the best titles of DC. Really strong issue with gorgeus art by Sejic. Look at that beautiful cover. The interior art is just as great. 10/10.Best Of The Week!

Written by Jason Aaron. Art by Russell Dauterman and Valerio Schiti. Cover by Russell Dauterman. Volstagg is in the land of the dwarves when they are attacked incinerating most of the population. Odinson & Jane talk about her cancer & whether she should stay Thor or die as Jane from the cancer. Then we see Volstagg suffering from the horror he saw earlier in the issue. He seeks out the hammer of Ultimate Thor, grabs it, lifts it & is transformed into War Thor! I picked this up since this is where the end of the Unworthy Thor title led to next. I loved it. The art is awesome. The story is great. I cant wait to see where all these plot lines will lead. 9/10.

Black Dawn: Part 6. Written by Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason. Art by Doug Mahnke and Patrick Gleason. Cover by Ryan Sook. In this conclusion Superboy really shines. Manchester Black is defeated (in a nod to FF #2 from 1961). Superman is shown as a beacon of hope. The town of Hamilton returns to normal as the Kents pack up to move to Metropolis. Wow. What an action packed but emotional conclusion. Great job by the creative team. They nailed the characters perfectly with equal parts action & emotion. Just fantastic. I could see these guys doing a great job on Marvel's Fantastic Four. This title is one of the best Rebirth titles. 9/10.

Written by Charles Soule. Art by Goran Sudzuka. Cover by Mike Deodato. Matt's plan works as he uses some legal techniques to be able to testify in court as DD without having to reveal his ID. However this angers...the big guy...Kingpin! Soule took awhile to "warm up" on this title but he has been stellar for the last dozen issues. Really great use of his legal skills in telling this story. 9/10.

Script by Peter J. Tomasi. Art by Alisson Borges and HiFi. Cover by Jorge Jimenez. An interlude issue between arcs. The sons fight each other in the Bat Cave after being grounded after last issue. Alfred again shines in this issue & gets the best lines. Despite their heritage & abilities the boys are still two pre teen boys. It makes for good comic relief. Tomasi nails their voices perfectly. The art suffered this issue. It was a fill in. Next up: Superboy meets the Teen Titans! 7/10.

Written by Tim Seeley. Art by Minkyu Jung. Cover by Marcus To. Blockbuster isn't Mark Desmond. It is his brother Roland. And he wants to help Nightwing. This issue continues from last issue setting up the fight for control of Bludhaven's criminal empire. Meanwhile splinters appear in Dick & Shaun's relationship. I have to admit this issue started out slow for me & was a little boring but things quickly changed toward the end. Nightwing has been one of my favorite titles in DC's Rebirth. 7/10.

Did anybody read Batman #25? I was real busy with family stuff and didn't go to the comic-book shop until Thursday afternoon ... and Batman #25 was sold out!
Stupid family stuff!
I got Cave Carson #9, World War Tank Girl #3 and Kong of Skull Island #12 and I hope to write a few shirt reviews over the weekend.

Aquaman was simply stunning. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and the art was gorgeous. This might be my current favorite book, and as a long-time Marvel Zombie, that is a strong statement for me to make.

World War Tank Girl #3I must have read some Tank Girl at some point but I don't think I've ever owned a single issue. But I was aware of the premise and I knew who Booga was when I saw Tank Girl the movie a few years ago. (I love that movie, by the way. It is hilarious!) So I picked up the second issue of World War Tank Girl last month because it looked intriguing and I'm now looking forward to every issue! I think I read somewhere that it's a mini-series. The third issue didn't disappoint! Sub Girl and Tank Girl and Jet Girl and Booga (Tank Girl's talking humanoid kangaroo boyfriend) have somehow been transported back in time to Europe during World War II and now they are all trying to survive the war, get back together and find a way to get back to their own time period (whenever that is). But the war is a huge distraction because for this crazy bunch because World War II is kinda fun! Fun comic!

I do wonder, with that ending how the book will go forward as it really felt like an ending of something to me.

Other than that the story was good. I suspect we have not seen the last of Hamilton despite the move to Metropolis. Sook's cover was beautiful. Are you still getting Nightwing?

But I loved the twist at the end. It set up a neat scenario. I think Nightwing & Shaun's relationship won't last based on DC's Sept Solicits.
