I agree, one of his very best. I'd put The Bells, Street Hassle, and Berlin up there too along with this one and Transformer as his top solo records. There were quite a few others that were very good as well, but those five stand out for me. Berlin is an incredible record. A few years ago he released a live concert DVD Berlin: Live at St. Ann's Warehouse. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't already.

Currently listening to The Besnard Lakes are the Dark Horse album. This is the song from it that first got me into them: For Agent 13

Snuff is one of my favorite punk bands from the '80s - '90s. The first song I ever heard from them is still one of my favorites and one hell of a drinkin' song. NSFW We need to hang out together. Comics and Punk Rock? Yes please!

There's an interesting story behind Fela Kuti's Expensive Shit that involves police planting a joint on him. To avoid arrest he ate it however they jailed him anyway waiting for him to pass the evidence. He managed to buy another inmate's stool and was eventually released, hence the title.

Last five CD purchases - Alt-J ∆ - An Awesome Wave
- My only complaint is that it didn't include a booklet with lyrics or productions notes, etc.
- Parliament - Osmium
- Roky Erickson & the Aliens - Evil One
- Talking Heads - The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads
- Expanded & Remastered version
- Jimi Hendrix Experience - Axis Bold As Love
- The digitally remastered version comes with a making of DVD.

Here's a track for a mellow Monday morning. Pelican is a band from Iceland, this is Golden Promises from their 1974 debut. Sounds like Pink Floyd with a dash of Dire Straits. nice. liking that - danish label? The label says Á. Á. Records, and I can't find much about it. How about some 90's Ramones? While not nearly on par with their 70's stuff, I enjoyed the late era Ramones. It was more hard rock than punk, but it still retained that signature sound. This is "Strength to Endure":

Death One of the best albums I've heard in the past 10 years. If you don't know about Death, I highly recommend the amazing documentary A Band Called Death.

I've been listening to a ton of Jason Isbell lately, both solo and with The 400 Unit. One of the best young songwriters out there. I liked the Drive-By Truckers, but I think he's really blossomed on his own.

And speaking of the Truckers...this has been on semi-continuous rotation today.
