I understand this Roquefort Raider, and hondobrode sent me a Private Message several hours ago and I understand this perfectly clear and avoid using links whenever possible in this forum. I've deleted all my links in the Adam West Batman Thread just a minute ago and wanted to support this change to avoid any problems in the future. Please understand no one is asking you to avoid using links. The way you included tags in your quoted post is all we're asking for. We just don't want links and tags floating out there on their own with no other words attached to them. Thanks!

But I'm not very smart. It's going to mean I have this super long link in the middle of my sentence. Now get off my lawn...Whippersnappers. If you don't want to bother with BB code, just click The button circled in red when replying. It will do the coding for you. Being old must suck. Glad it will never happen to me. Tried that. All it did was link me back to the post here at CCF...not to the external site even though that was the link I put in. I've honestly never been able to get that to work.

Okay, let's go simpler. Just write something like "here's the link:" in front of whatever link you provide in the future. That would solve the problem too. Here's the link: www.classiccomics.org

I think I did this a few times in the politics thread - something like this:
Here's a good read:
{link}
"pull quote".
I'll stop putting the link on a separate line.

In case it's useful, here's a step-by-step view of the linking process. We start with the article we want to link to. We copy the URL of the article. Then we open a CCF text window as usual, and click on its tiny Earth-like icon. A dialogue window opens. The first box asks us to provide the text we want to act as a hyperlink (here it's just "link", but it can be whatever we want). In the second box, we paste the URL of the article. We complete the post with our usual flair and panache, then click "create post". And there we are!

I've personally always found it easier to do the BB code directly, but that does take some getting used to.
Just replace { and } with actual brackets, and you get this:

You can still supply the hot links, they just need to be in a sentence instead of free floating.

happy to avoid linkage, just want to post my own art from time to time. Sad for the rest of the board who have mighty Link-Fu, though, but the reason for the limitation seems fair and sensible.
