X-Men Blue #3 - The O5 respond to an apparent attack upon a young female mutant by a group of Sentinels only to discover that the Sentinels are there to 'protect' her after the onset of her abilities caused damage and mayhem. While wary of this motive, the Sentinels take the team and the young mutant to meet their leader, a return of another classic X-villain. I read the description of that issue on Bleeding Cool, and I hope Bastion will revert back to his old Nimrod persona. Back in the '80s, Chris Claremont had introduced the super-sentinel as a self-aware machine that was evolving so fast as to go far beyond his programming; even as he was hunting down mutants, it was discovering empathy. I'm pretty sure he would eventually have grown to see the absurdity of hunting "mutants", as mutation is the natural order of evolution... of life itself. And in a sense, Nimrod was himself a mutant... a mutant machine. So here's hoping it's not a case of a villain playing mind games with the heroes.

I bought Corben's Horror of the Grave #4. Must get caught up on that series - after having enjoyed reading the first issue I've now fallen behind and have yet to read the others.

I'm in the same boat, this wasn't on my pull despite liking the first issue but when the second one came out I couldn't find it anywhere so I decided to just wait for the trade.

Star Wars: The Screaming Citadel #1 Written by Kieron Gillen Art By Marco Checchetto Summary: Rebel pilot and rogue archaeologist wander side by side into the darkest shadows of the galaxy, one in search of a master, the other for her own fame and fortune but what will they find? Plot: I'm not usually big on crossovers, and I haven't been reading the Aphra solo book at all so I very nearly skipped this book but I'm glad I didn't. In most crossovers characterization is sacrificed for over the top action scenes, and in her own solo book Aphra came off as a tad vapid but here we get none of the usual spectacle and Aphra when contrasted against Luke's naivete she becomes as interesting as she was during days as a supporting role in Dart Vader. The interactions between Luke and Aphra are fun, and the plot with the Jedi artifact and the vampiric queen makes for a fun read. Art: Marco Checchetto has a quality to his work that fits perfectly in the Star Wars Universe; there's a smudgy, grungy, industrial look but also a soft, bright look of high fantasy which at it's heart is what Star Wars is a combination of. I think the best part though was the unique look Checcheto brought to the fashion sense of the character's clothing; I would totally wear a suit like the one they gave Luke! Grade:7/10 I really liked how they wrote Luke here.. Gillen really nailed him. Doctor Aphra, OTOH, they really have to decide on... she started out as Evil Indiana Jones, then, in her solo book, turned into Evil Han (paired with evil Chewy, evil R2, and Evil c3p0).. now here she's pretty much the Star Wars version of River Song. She was entertaining here, though I like her original persona best, I think, but I'll take River over Evil Han for sure. I wonder if they're going to keep her going as a permanent book, or if this cross over is it? Vader's got a new series coming, could be replacing her, or it could be they'll hold off on the revolving mini slot after Darth Maul, or add a book, I suppose. Story wise, it definitely feels like the sort of thing they wrote into the old EU, which is a good thing.

Yeah, they haven't been super consistent with her character but I did like her here and this definitely felt the most like the old Dark Horse books.

Copperhead #13 Faerber/Moss/Riley/Mauer Sheriff Bronson continues to investigate the former Mayor's murder... she seems to think it was a jilted woman, rather the the political assassination Mayor Boo's backer thinks it is. Meanwhile, the former Mr. Bronson continues working on getting to Jasper with his girlfriend(?) or whoever it is. The new artist is definitely not as good as the old one.. the lines are much softer, and they don't really fit the mood. He draws all the aliens really well, but the people just seem off to me. Overall, still a good book, but it's definitely lost some steam. 6/10
