What are some of your most memorable or favorite tv show openings? One of mine is It Takes a Thief. From the opening alone, you know you are in for adventure and glamour--swinging 60s style!

Six Million Dollar Man. Explains the whole premise of the show in a cool montage sequence with great narration.

I was quite taken by the original Space 1999 opening. Heck, the second one too.
In the exact same vein, UFO also had a good one.

Wild, Wild, West Intro
It's catchy, great music, and loved the way they incorporate the names of Robert Conrad and Ross Martin on the back of their train ... The Wanderer. One of my favorite TV program of all times.

The answer, of course, is Hawaii Five-O.
Though I really do love The Wild Wild West also.

Nothing beats the opening of Jonny Quest, though...

Some of these we didn't get where I grew up and most of the others I haven't seen since they first aired. I'd totally forgotten how similar some of the UFO opening was to Thunderbirds - the ship launching into the sky from underwater, for example.
If it counts as an opening, I think Rod Serling's monologue at the beginning of each episode of The Twilight Zone would be near the top of my list.

Most of the good ones have been posted already, with The Six Million Dollar Man and Hawaii Five 0 being especially excellent examples. However, one of my favourites hasn't been mentioned yet: The A-Team. The voice over at the start told you everything you needed to know about the show's premise, while the ensuing footage clued you in on each team member's particular skill set and informed you that the program you were about to watch would have oodles of action in it.
This show had a great, great theme tune too!

Nobody has picked the swirling time vortex of the Doctor Who opening title sequence? Heathens! Okay, it might not be that exciting but that theme gives me goosebumps every time.
