So while working on my little fanfic "Captain America & Howard The Duck See America", I was trying to audibly hear in my head how Howard would and should sound if ever properly adapted to the big or small screen. Closest I could come to was maybe Paul Giamatti or Steve Buscemi; strong yet soft, quiet but with the ability to become incredibly shrill and bombastic when agitated
What are some real world voices that you folks mentally give to certain characters if at all?

I always thought Lewis Black would make a good Howard the Duck.

Gilbert Gottfried might be a better pick

I can say I never heard Lawrence Fishburne in my head for Silver Surfer. As much of a talented actor as he is I never ever thought Surfer would have a distinct and powerful voice.

I'm kind of leaning more towards Matthew Broderick for Surfer, probably had something to do with watching the short-lived 90's cartoon series as a child

Usually my internal character voices are informed by how they've been portrayed in some other form of media. Just one example would be Batman & Joker will almost always be Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill. For characters that haven't been given a real voice, I will fancast in my head.

I hear Clint Eastwood's voice when I read Wolverine. Have from the first time Cockrum drew him out of costume.
Cei-U! Do you feel lucky, pu... er, bub?

I hear Miles Davis as the voice of C'thulhu. Almost thought you said "Sammy Davis" (as in Jr.). Boy, would that have been an interesting choice for Starro or Shuma-Gorath....

I've always thought that if they made a live action version of DKR that Ron Pearlman would be a great old Bruce Wayne as that's who I've always heard in my head when reading the book.

I always went with Clint Eastwood for DKR, but I like the Ron Pearlman choice. I'll keep that in the back of my mind come next reread.
