Earlier today I was rearranging books in my old small medium sized bookcase that ive had since I was a little kid during the 1980s.
Problem is I need a newer bigger bookshelf for the other books I have lying around the dang house.
I got old and newer Star Wars here and there stacked in piles. I got Dune books stored away along with Stephen King novels in a plastic storage box.
What I tried doing earlier was just piling books on top of each other vertically in the top shelf and that seemed to help to save an inch. But then the bottom shelf of my old bookcase I use that to store and put away my DS and 3DS games and DVDS such as the 2004 Star Wars Original trilogy and the special extended edition DVDs of the Lord of the Rings movies and my DVD seasons of Seinfeld and Smallville.
Does Walmart have bookcases that are cheap from 30 bucks to 40 bucks?

It's a bit more expensive nut I would recommend the Billy series from Ikea. You can buy extra shelves, so it's easy to adjust the height that you want. Personally, I make my own shelves. I use this basic design : The height and length can be adjusted to suit your needs. It's all done with pine boards, wood screws and angle brackets and is pretty inexpensive. Each shelf can be stacked on top of others, and if your boards are cut straight nothing should wobble.
