The sound quality seems fine on my laptop CB. Unless you organize a CCF jazz combo it should be more than adequate. I only had time to listen to the first 5 minutes just now but will return to it later. I did not notice a place to put the audio on hold or fast forward/ rewind
If you keep this up, it deserves Front Page exposure and it's own sub-forum with a post for each episode and link as well as comments on that episode
It'll be great hearing the CCF voices from beyond. Perchance with proper persuasion (pudding), 'll participate. I have Skype although I've never used it

Things I'm already learning from this podcast: I had no idea Boy Comics actually offered a unique focus on boy (non-sidekick) heroes. I just figured it was a generic title designed to ensnare the target demographic.
Nice contrast between Batman and Crimebuster at 11 mins in.
13 mins in, Crimebuster was Kick-Ass decades before Kick-Ass.
21 mins in, holy crud! Crimebuster's arch nemesis BITES people to death??!!
28 mins in, CB stories get more psychological and in-depth with character motivation with issue #33. Sounds way ahead of its time for the early 1940s!
Taking a break at 36 mins in.

37 mins in -- what does reverse Kirby art look like? Instead of larger than life, down to Earth and muted. "no attempt to portray action as active." Makes the violence more chilling. "It's drawn the same way as the guy eating a bagel in the last panel." Violence as a slice of life.
39 mins in -- my colleague in the room is laughing nervously and wondering what the hell this is. "It's from the '40s???"
46 mins in -- these "public service announcement" stories, were these perhaps done as a reaction to pressure from the public or government? The climate is beginning to become ripe for Wertham and Communist scares.
48 mins in -- "Dilly Dunkin". Wow. That name is terrible. Someday, someone needs to explore all the Archie rip-offs of the Atom Age.
53 mins in -- "Crimebuster gets a pair of pants." I just laughed far too loud for my workplace.
55 mins in -- "At first, Crimebuster refused to wear the pants." This is the best podcast ever.
57 mins in -- Lev Gleeson had stable enough distribution to do a 3 issue story arc? Wow. Commentary on "The Vacuum" is again hilarious.
60 mins in -- Stimpy, Sniffer, Dilly. I love these names.
62 mins in -- Ironjaw initially sounded terrifying. Hard to believe he can be played for laughs.
Pausing again at 65 mins in.

I'm glad someone's listening to it besides myself! It's a little weird listening to your own podcast.

I'm glad someone's listening to it besides myself! It's a little weird listening to your own podcast. I probably won't have a chance to listen to it until after work Saturday night or sometime on Sunday, but I plan on giving it a whirl. I've read a grand total of 1 Crimebuster* story from Boy Comics in my life and none of the other features, so I have a lot to learn and hope I don't get overwhelmed. -M * I have one story reprinted in an issue of Men of Mystery from AC Comics.

I'm glad someone's listening to it besides myself! It's a little weird listening to your own podcast. It's really VERY good: tremendously informative, and with a dry wit to it all as well. Might be a bit lengthy for the casual listener, but you're doing everything else right!

69 mins in -- Rocky X gets reassigned from space to Korea in order to fight the communists??
71 mins in -- First time I've heard someone acknowledge that there was a legitimate need for some sort of regulation in comics targeted to children (I agree)

Cool podcast, maybe a bit long at 90 minutes but still enjoyable enough... a good start.
Well done Crimebuster... keep up the good work.

Congrats!
You will have me as an avid listener! Hopefully you can incorporate topics and ideas here into it, as well as get people here on to talk with you on occasion. Thank you for representing a forum that I believe to be the go-to place for anything classic comic on the entire web.

Just listened to the first 10 minutes, but I'll definitely be returning to it. The sound quality appears to be fine and your voice suits podcasting. I also love that you had "Magneto & Titanium Man" by Wings as the theme tune -- i love that song!
Keep on with this... you've got something good there.

48 mins in -- "Dilly Dunkin". Wow. That name is terrible. Someday, someone needs to explore all the Archie rip-offs of the Atom Age. 60 mins in -- Stimpy, Sniffer, Dilly. I love these names. I kind of ran out of steam at the end and gave the boy's adventure issues from #107-119 a bit of a short shrift. The strip gains a lot of Archie elements, but works a lot better than Dilly Duncan because Biro isn't trying to play it for laughs. In these issues, Chuck Chandler gets a whole new supporting cast at school, including a best friend named Stu, and a rival named Jocko. With Kubert drawing him, he's also clearly older at this point than he was in the early issues - I have him at 18 when the series ends. 62 mins in -- Ironjaw initially sounded terrifying. Hard to believe he can be played for laughs. You'd believe it even less if you read the attempts to make him funny. Cool podcast, maybe a bit long at 90 minutes but still enjoyable enough... a good start. Thanks! I definitely did not intend for it to run that long; I thought it would be 45-50 minutes. In the future I'm going to try to keep it to an hour tops. Hopefully you can incorporate topics and ideas here into it, as well as get people here on to talk with you on occasion I certainly hope so as well. I just did my first test run recording a Skype call. It worked, but the audio for the other person was kind of tinny with a bit of an echo. It's not great, but I'm not sure how to get the sound quality any better short of having the guests record their own audio, which seems like a hassle.

Even if it is a bit off, I don't think we will mind. I listen to a sports podcast that I love and the butter zone is 60 minutes so I think that sounds perfect!

I've been listening to this episode again to figure out what I can do better, and I did notice a couple minor errors, mostly discussing the backup strips Dilly Duncan and Rocky X. I was kind of doing almost all of the episode from memory, though I did write up an outline first.
I basically got the timeline messed up just a little bit. Dilly Duncan's last issue as a backup was actually #71 (not #79 as I implied), while Rocky X didn't start until #80 (rather than #75). I said at one point all three of these strips were running concurrently, but this was an error.
I didn't notice any other mistakes on this listen through, but I wanted to put out corrections on those.
