It's definitely cool to be able to check out the history of the board like this.

Case in point: I just did a search for every post made within the first 24 hours of this site's existence. Check out the history Looked over this a bit between court hearings. It's a bit disconcerting to see the number of closed accounts and the number of people who were active early on that have disappeared. But definitely a blast from the past.

Most of those deleted accounts were members who self-deleted for personal reasons and then returned as active members (still with us today!). A few are names I absolutely do not recognize, who joined in the early days when the buzz was that this was a free-for-all refuge from CBR and before it took on a definite form. I remember we lost a ton of folks when I explained to them that we weren't building a RITAS section. A small minority are folks who simply moved on. Still hoping, for example, that we'll see Aaron King again someday. He was so instrumental in those first days of the board.

What's a RITAS section?

Rita's was more-or-less the equivalent of our "Meanwhile..." thread on the old CBR Community Board, a place where the Comm board regulars let their hair down and talked about whatever with little (if any) oversight by the mods. It was created after CBR dumped its Chat feature. Over time, it became rather toxic, a place for the regulars to heap abuse with impunity on anyone who contradicted, annoyed, angered, or otherwise offended the hive mind. Cei-U! I summon the lowdown!

What process do you guys use to read the board? So far, I check out my favorite two or three sub-boards and that's about it.

I generally start with the Community board, unless it's Wednesday morning - then I go to Classic Comics Discussion first to see what the new Cover Contest theme is. After those two boards, I check the TV/movie board and anything else under the Classic Comics section that has new posts.

Glad to hear you refer to RITA'S like this, Kurt: I never cared for it at all, back in the day. "Toxic" is exactly the word I'd use to describe that thread too. I saw far too much bullying of newbies and not-so-newbies there. In that respect, it was pretty much the polar opposite to this place, I'm very pleased to say.

When, I'm on here ... this is my plan of Attack.
These are the four boards that I always visit on equal grounds.
1) Classic Comics Discussion 2) Comic Related TV, Movies and Video Games 3) Fan Fiction and Fan Art 4) Community Discussion
Special Consideration
Help Desk and Announcement
Because, I want to say on top of it at all time ... when this section has New Posts, it's always my Number 1 priority to visit there, always ...

I need to improve on how I "do" the forum. Have the bad habit of starting at the proboards dashboard, where at a glance I see all the thread activity in threads in which I've participated. But then I often stop and don't explore the rest of the forum.
But now that you bring it up, is there a "new posts" or similar button here, something to let you quickly see all the changes since your last visit? My main forum has this and it's pretty much perfect.

Try www.classiccomics.org/posts/recentThis link is cleverly hidden in plain sight on the www.classiccomics.org/forum page, at the bottom of the list of subforums. It's easy to miss; I didn't notice it for months.

I missed that special announcement about links for awhile, even though it was at the top of the board.

I do see a "recently updated threads" link buried down there though, www.classiccomics.org/threads/recent , which seems even better. The recent posts page is cool, but a bit of a confusing mishmash.
