Found this board fairly recently, but it's already my second favorite forum. Wish I had been there from the beginning, looks like I missed some fun times.

Let me tell you, one of the things I like about this board is you can have a discussion and a thread that doesn't degenerate into juvenile nonsense. Silly nonsense, yes; but not juvenile needling and acting like an ass to prove your superiority to the three people who are still posting in the thread, by that point (and they are the ones you are arguing with). I am also a member of the Wrestling Classics message board, as I am a fan of the old territorial wrestling era, when you got different flavors of pro wrestling. Pro wrestling was like a living comic book to me, when done right. A couple of important people involved in it passed away and the standards have dropped, to where certain people tend to dominate it and they go off the rails and no one pulls them back. They have a thread about Billy Corgan buying the rights to the National Wrestling Alliance brand name, which hasn't meant anything since 1989, and it degenerated into an argument about the term record vs album and one person having to get the last word in, while being insulting and childish. My posting there has always been a bit sporadic; but, ever since one of the founders passed away and things started tilting more to this type of situation, I have little desire to take part in threads. IMDB got to be the same way on genre movie threads, especially comic book-based films. It turned into trolling and DC vs Marvel "arguments" that consisted of of "____________ sucks!" "No, _________________ sucks!" There was a group of us on the Marvel film boards that liked to joke around by juxtaposing the trailers with Monty Python, Looney Tunes, or one I did where I turned the Captain America movie into Hogan's Heroes. The trolls killed that and I stopped even looking at threads on comic book movies. Now, with Facebook-only discussions, I don't bother at all.
Here, I feel like I am having a conversation with adults at a table, over a favorite beverage and a slice of pie; instead of being at the kiddie table separating two little brats who are throwing mashed potatoes at each other.

If I stay healthy, I figure I'll eventually break into the top fifty posters on the board.

What benefit is there to follow other board members? I've followed a handful and never noticed anything different from the ones I'm not following. Is it just that I could click on a list of who I'm following and then check out what they've been posting?

Thanks for the encouragement, Michael! I learn a lot from other members. Makes me wish I'd spent more time reading comics. So much stuff I'd like to read still.

I really feel like this board is my new online home. So to speak, of course.

Forgive me if you see me start bumping old threads on the board, but as I start working my way through them that will likely occur on occasion.

Is it just that I could click on a list of who I'm following and then check out what they've been posting? Basically, if you go to your profile and then "notifications," you get a custom report of what the people you follow have posted since you last logged in. Forgive me if you see me start bumping old threads on the board, but as I start working my way through them that will likely occur on occasion. I personally love when this happens. The old place had a practice of deleting old threads when they'd gone inactive for a certain amount of time. There was a lot of old history I kept looking for that just got lost to the ages. I could easily set a protocol for this site that wipes out old inactive threads after a while, but I have no intention of ever doing so precisely in the hope that folks like you will bring new life to old conversations on occasion.

Case in point: I just did a search for every post made within the first 24 hours of this site's existence. Check out the history
