Otherwise known as the thread where Kurt drops the f-bombs! If you need me, I'll be over here in the corner cringing. Cei-U! Not my finest hour!

This board was created in the aftermath of the deletion of the forums at comicbookresources.com ("CBR"). We had a nice community feeling in the Classic Comics board at CBR, and then suddenly all of that history was wiped out and the newly-reconstituted CBR forums didn't initially include a Classics board. Shaxper took the initiative to create this place, and most of the old Classics board community migrated here. We were joined by some folks from another ProBoards forum called the Hall of Justice, and have attracted other new users since then. I think it turned out much better this way for me. I know I never look at the other CBR boards any more and rarely even glance at the previews or other features, which I used to do almost daily when I was participating on their message boards. I should have expanded on this a bit: the reason I think it's better for me not to look at those previews every day, which is what I would do when they were on the same site as the message-board I was spending so much time on, is that they mostly just got on my nerves. I find the current versions of most of these ongoing characters both unfaithful to the way I remember them and distasteful in themselves (i.e. I wouldn't find them interesting under any name), so reading the previews was an exercise in self-torture. That's why I like the fact that this Classics Board is its own thing.

I looked through it quickly and didn't see anything to be embarrassed over on anyone's part. But I didn't see the F-bombs so maybe I missed the juicy stuff in my quick run-through.

Reading all of these posts; I'm glad that I didn't became a part of CBR - I've almost joined it around March of 2011.

I like the new angle on the classic logo. Very dramatic.

I wish I had found this board sooner. Better late than never, I guess.

My best memory of the old board was the masquerade, which was held on Halloween 2001 or 2002... (the latter, I think). For one evening, everybody registered under new identities and tried to guess who was who. Great fun! Later we were told that it wouldn't happen again, because multiple identities are seen by publicists as an attempt to misrepresent the size of the community. Oh, well. The internet was still young in those days. (My temporary identity was Pico della Mirandola... I was quite proud of it!) I was posting over there, as well as Newsarama and DC, but somehow missed the Classics boards until about a year before The End This sounds like fun !

And looking closer at the date I can pretty much guarantee that I had taken my boys out trick or treating. It's also possible it was during one of the periods I didn't have home internet. When I started at CBR my middle son was two years old. Now he's a junior in college. I was in law school. I've now been practicing 18 years. Lot of time.

Sorry I missed all of that. I didn't really get involved with the forums until after posting heavily on Greg Burgas' Year of the Artist. I took part in the street protests of the murder of Comics Should Be Good, which led me to Atomic Junkshop, which led me to here. Thankfully, there now exist places for a community discussion that is civil and articles about comics and pop culture with some depth. The site that shall not be named might as well now have a sign that says "Click-bait sold here!"
