There is no option for "I don't have toys." Well...of course not. Such a scenario is obviously inconceivable, is it not?

I will say that I was never happier than I was from 1980-1990 (I can still remember as far back as 80') when I played with toys. Once you become an "adult" it's virtually impossible to get back to that type of blissful freedom and self-expression without the fear of being judged. Well said, and exactly why I work so hard at it. I gave up toys in my early adolescence like most others here, but halfway into college, when I'd gotten so damn serious and intense, ebay happened, and my love for toys from my youth was rekindled as a result. Couldn't have come at a better time.

Great question. I guess I'm guilty as charged. I have a bunch of Japanese transformers on display that I like to transform once in a while. Which? I'm a huge fan of the original non-TF Diaclone stuff, and also have a few Takara Brave bots and Japan-exclusive G1s. Just bought myself an original Star Saber for my birthday, in fact.

Grats on the Star Saber, one of my favorite figures ever.
I will post a picture of what I got when I get a chance!

I do wonder how many adults who still collect figures actually play with them when nobody's around. I went through a crisis right before I was to turn 13 in late 1990. I was still playing with toys as a 12 year old, but convinced myself that I HAD to stop playing with them once I officially became a teenager and I quit cold-turkey. I am teenager But I love to play with my nephew child till now. They are really cute.

It is A LOT of fun. More fun still when you have an entire room full of toys they didn't really appreciate up until a certain point, and now it's like El Dorado to them

My mother gave away all my toys when I went away to college, including my Creepy Crawler Thingmaker, my Give-A-Show Projector, and my G.I.Joe footlocker complete with first edition USMC Joe. For the most part, the toys I have now are just for display (but two generations of nieces and nephews have played with my 1968 Pogo figurines--practically indestructible and perfect for teething babies--and I also have a set of Toy Story figures my great niece Presley makes a beeline for whenever she visits). Good on you that do play.
Cei-U! I summon the second childhood!

I was always an action figure kind of kid, and even though I'll always have fond memories of G.I. Joe, He-Man, DC Super Powers, Marvel Secret Wars, etc, objectively those lines can't hold a candle to stuff like DC Direct or Marvel Legends. I'd want to be a kid today simply for the Hulk figures. For some mind-boggling reason, we never got good Hulk figures until the early 2000's.

I don't play with them in the way that a child might -- smashing them together, making funny voices/sounds, etc -- but I "play" with them in that I like to handle them, pose them, arrange them into scenes or dioramas for display purposes, and transform them (for toys that transform). My view is that they're toys, not statues or sculptures, they are meant to be handled and manipulated ( don't get the crowd that keeps them sealed in the box just like I don't get CGC comics). Those joints are supposed to be used. That said, I also like to keep them in good condition so they display well. But that's a quirk that I've had regardless of age -- even as a kid who played more actively with toys, I still liked to keep them in good shape and looking shiny. Maybe one of these days, I'll get into custom and modification work. I'm fascinated by how people are able to add some decals, some weathering and/or additional paint, and really give a toy an incredible look. I love this Masterpiece Optimus Prime that someone customized.
